17.01.2022 This smoothie is the perfect pre-workout snack to help you get the best out of every training session. Ingredients 1 serve Coffee, Coconut + MCTs Clean Lean Protein... 1 frozen banana 200ml milk of your choice 1/4 ripe avocado 1 shot of espresso 2 tbsp hemp seeds Pinch of salt Handful of ice Method 1. Place all the ingredients into a food processor or blender. 2. Blend until smooth. 3. Pour into a glass or shaker and top with some desiccated coconut and extra hemp seeds for some crunch!

16.01.2022 This vegan shepherds pie is a must try! Gluten free, Dairy free, Nut free, Vegan, Vegetarian Time: 60 mins , Serves: 6 INGREDIENTS... 1 onion 2 cloves garlic 450g mushrooms, sliced 6 carrots, peeled and chopped 2 cups frozen peas 2 tbs tomato paste 2 tbs gluten free corn flour 2 cups vegetable stock cup red wine (optional) 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil 1kg golden sweet potato 2 serves Just Natural Clean Lean Protein 1/4 cup plant-based milk Fresh herbs we used 1 bay leave and a sprig of rosemary Salt and pepper METHOD To make the mashed potatoes for the top of the shepherd’s pie, peel the potatoes, chop them roughly and boil until tender in a large pot of water. Drain the water and mash the potato, adding in the milk and salt and pepper to taste. Set aside. Now it’s time to prepare the vegetable pie filling! Preheat the oven to 200C. In a large oven proof pot (or if you don’t have one of these, a pan), heat the olive oil over a medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion has turned translucent. Add the mushrooms, carrots and herbs to the pot and sauté until the carrot is softened. Add the tomato paste and corn flour to the pot and stir. Pour in the red wine and stir again, making sure to scrape all of the browned bits off the bottom of your pot. Allow to cook for two minutes before slowly adding the stock to the pot, stirring continuously until a gravy forms. Season with salt and pepper and add the protein. Stir to combine and allow filling to simmer over a low heat until it thickens further. Once thickened, remove the herbs and stir in the peas. Turn off the heat. If using an oven-proof pot, top your filling with the mashed potatoes, spreading it out evenly on top. If not using an oven-proof pot, transfer your mixture to an oven-proof baking dish and repeat the same process. Lightly brush the top of your potato with extra virgin olive oil and bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 200C. Serve.

08.01.2022 This plant-based protein burger is as close to the real thing as they come. We bet you won’t be able to tell the difference! Ingredients FOR THE BURGER PATTY:... 6 portobello mushrooms, chopped roughly into small pieces 400g tin cannellini beans 4 pitted medjool dates 200g over cooked brown rice, cooled 1 serve Nuzest Clean Lean Protein Just Natural 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 2 tbs hulled tahini 2 tbs tamari 1 tsp lemon or lime zest A few sprigs of thyme leaves A small bunch of flat leaf parsley, finely chopped Extra virgin olive oil Salt and pepper FOR THE REST OF THE BURGER: 6 seeded wholemeal burger buns (or GF buns for a GF option) 1 large avocado, sliced 2 large tomatoes, thinly sliced 1 can sliced beetroot 1/2 cucumber, sliced 6 slices vegan cheese Spinach or lettuce leaves Method 1. Add a splash of extra virgin olive oil to a large pan and heat the mushrooms and thyme on medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper. 2. Fry the mushrooms until their liquid has evaporated and they are slightly browned and then turn the pan off and transfer the mushrooms to a bowl to cool. 3. Drain the cannellini beans and blitz them in a food processor with the dates, garlic, parsley, tahini and tamari, pulsing until the mixture is relatively smooth. 4. Transfer the bean mix to a large mixing bowl and add the rice, protein, lemon zest and mushrooms. Mix until combined. 5. Cover the mixture and leave to settle in the fridge for 15 minutes. 6. Preheat your oven to 230C and prepare to get messy! Using your hands, divide the mixture into 6 portions and shape into your burger patties. Place the patties onto a lined baking tray and bake for 15 minutes until brown. If you like cheese, place a slice of vegan cheese on top of the patty for the last 5 minutes of baking. 7. Cut the buns in half and toast them lightly whilst preparing your burger toppings. 8. Smear ketchup on both sides of the bun and fill with all ingredients. Enjoy!

05.01.2022 Metabolism seems to be the magic word when we're talking about weight. Some of us think our metabolism is just 'slow' and that's the reason for weight gain. Or on the flipside, because someone is naturally lean they must have a 'fast' metabolism. We often hear that there are certain strategies to help us 'speed up' our metabolism. So what exactly is metabolism and how does it affect our weight?,/p> Metabolism is defined as 'a process involving a set of chemical reactions in a... living organism that create and breakdown energy for life.' Metabolism is the process of converting the energy from our food and drink into energy we can use. This process occurs when we're active and require energy, but it also occurs naturally to do simple, basic bodily functions like breathing and pumping blood around our system, even when we're just sitting doing absolutely nothing. This is called basal metabolic rate or what is often referred to as our 'metabolism.' It is the rate in which we burn energy at rest and accounts for about 70% of the total calories per burn every day. The science shows that our basal metabolic rate is quite set, difficult to change and is mostly based on genetics. Put simply, you're either genetically predisposed to burning calories at a faster or at a slower rate. However one sure fire way to slow down your metabolism is by eating too little as our bodies detect starvation and will slow down your basal metabolic rate to retain that precious energy, making weight loss very difficult. Weight gain is often blamed on metabolism but this is rarely the case. Your mind is preoccupied with setting up before you start work again, taking care of the kids full-time, shopping, cooking, organising and socialising. And on top of this, you still need to remember to relax, put your best self forward and remain present and calm! Taking a few minutes out of the day for your own needs is essential. Here are ...our top tips to ensuring you keep on top of your stress levels this year. 1. Take the time to make a nourishing meal or snack. Often, we neglect healthy eating patterns during times of stress, whether this be not eating or picking at processed foods that ultimately make you feel sluggish. Making the time to nourish your body is vital. 2. Take a bath and prepare a natural face mask. Baths reduce tension and stress and the alone time might be a perfect opportunity to clear your mind and practice meditation especially if you include a couple of drops of essential lavender oil. Maximise on your bath time by spoiling yourself with this natural face mask recipe: avocado mashed, 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey, 1 tablespoon oats (optional) and 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay (optional).
