25.01.2022 #COVID19 Update (8.30am, Sunday 8 March 2020) The ACT Health Directorate has been notified by the NSW Government that a person with COVID-19 may have been infec...tious when they travelled on two flights between Sydney and Canberra on February 28. The flight details are: FLIGHT 1: 6.45am QF1509 Sydney to Canberra and FLIGHT 2: 2.35pm VA651 Canberra to Sydney. ACT Health Directorate is asking anyone seated in rows 2-6 on the first flight, or rows 3-7 on the second flight, to self-quarantine and call the Communicable Diseases Control information line on 5124 9213. Anyone else travelling on these flights in other rows are not considered to be close contacts and should monitor their health until 13 March and to contact their GP for assessment and testing if they develop any symptoms. The signs and symptoms to look out for include: fever flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat or headaches or difficulty breathing. It has been confirmed the person from these flights attended a meeting at Defence Headquarters at Russell. ACT Health is working with the Australian Defence Force and NSW Health to contact ACT residents at that meeting. We know this person travelled to and from the meeting in a private car. The ACT Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerryn Coleman, confirms there are currently zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the ACT. More information about close and casual contact is available on the ACT Health website www.health.act.gov.au/novelcoronavirus

12.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT measles case in the ACT. ACT Health is advising the community to be aware of measles symptoms after a person transiting through the Canberra Airp...ort on Thursday 21 March has been diagnosed with the highly-contagious disease. Look out for signs and symptoms of measles between now and 8 April 2019 if on Thursday 21 March you were: - travelling on flight QF1543 from Brisbane to Canberra at 8am - travelling on flight QF809 from Canberra to Melbourne at 8.49am - in the airport departure terminal between 8am and 10am Symptoms of measles include fever, tiredness, runny nose, sore eyes and a cough. This is followed by a rash which appears 2-7 days later. People generally develop symptoms 7-18 days after being exposed to a person with infectious measles, with 10 days being more common. People are infectious from approximately 4 days before they develop a rash and 4 days after. Anyone with symptoms should seek medical advice, advising their healthcare provider BEFORE arriving at the clinic so that appropriate infection control precautions can be put in place to stop the spread of infection. Two doses of Measles Mumps Rubella vaccine (MMR) are required for immunity against measles and are given to children in Australia at 12 and 18 months of age. The MMR vaccine is free and can be given at any age after 9 months. Measles also continues to circulate in many overseas countries, so people travelling overseas should check their immune status before they leave. This is a timely reminder for Canberrans to ensure their vaccinations are up to date. Read the full alert here http://bit.ly/ACTmeaslesalert-March

09.01.2022 #COVID19 is thought to be spread mainly from person to person, and through droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Focusing on good hygien...e practices, especially hand hygiene, can help reduce your risk and prevent the spread of all respiratory viruses, including coronavirus. As of today, 10.00am 9 March 2020, there are still zero confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Canberra. Visit the ACT Health website health.act.gov.au/novelcoronavirus for more information.
