20.01.2022 A ‘Barefoot Circle’ is the (Australian) cricket centric way for teams, players and officials to take a moment to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, connect to each other as opponents and pay respect to the country. It also provides an opportunity to reflect that we are all on common ground, we are all human beings and we need to stand strong with each other, for each other. Thank you to Doug for leading our Barefoot Circle ceremonies today with our Under 17 Boys and Women’s 2nd Grade sides at University Oval. #reconciliationround @mycricketaus @ctpremierleague @universityoftasmania @riawunna_centre

15.01.2022 Congratulations to our The Cricket Hub Tasmania Volunteers of the Month, Will Deck and Jacqui Triffitt! Will has been an outstanding help this year across our junior programs through school clinics, running our Stage 2 trainings on Monday nights, working the canteen but also playing a major role in co-ordinating our 4th Senior Men's side. Jacqui, a former first-class player, has taken on a lead role managing our Under 15 Girls side. We have seen a great increase in numbers t...his year within this age group, and having Jacqui's expertise assisting the girls and their parents learn the intricacies of cricket including playing, scoring and umpiring has been a massive help! If your child is looking for some summer cricket activity, get in touch with The Cricket Hub Tasmania about their school holiday program! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you all again in 2021.

14.01.2022 Our Men’s 2nd Grade side joined @glenorchy_cricket for a barefoot circle this morning to demonstrate our commitment to Reconciliation between Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We were privileged to have Doug, an Aboriginal elder, lead the ceremony this morning and share his journey growing up in Australia and his ongoing contribution to the Tasmanian community. #reconciliationround @universityoftasmania @riawunna_centre @ctpremierleague

14.01.2022 The Cricket Hub Tasmania VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH We couldn't do what we do without the amazing efforts of our volunteers. We now have over 400 participants across our male and female programs, and it requires a real team effort to manage a number of moving parts from week to week. Thanks to our club partners The Cricket Hub Tasmania for recognising this and supporting the club through Volunteer of the Month awards for our senior and junior volunteers this season.... Our Senior Volunteers of the Month are the Wright family. Led by Head Coach Damien Wright's father-in-law Paul, we have had an amazing group on roll patrol every Saturday morning, where they buy the ingredients, slice and dice and make up 30+ rolls for the weekend. This is not only valuable to players from both teams to have lunch available at the ground, but it contributes to greater revenue from the canteen. Paul also stays on and runs the canteen for the day - legend! Thank you Paul, Donna, Karlina and Liv for all of your help! Our Junior Volunteer of the Month goes to Leo Fountain. Leo continues to lead our Stage 1 trainings on a Thursday afternoon, managing over 20 young and enthusiastic Lions. In addition, Leo also attended a number of school clinics in the pre-season to promote the club to schools in our area. Leo has been a great volunteer for a number of years and his ongoing contribution to the club is much appreciated! #LionsCricket

12.01.2022 It's time for The Whaler Performance of the Week awards. We're catching up on the first 3 weeks of all grades playing for the club, and it's been very tough for our panellists with some great individual performances across all grades. Week 1 - Louise Maddock led from the front in her first game as captain, scoring 47 not out as our WPL 2nd Grade side chased down Kingborough's total. Week 2 - Sam Harbinson played an incredible innings of 63 off 59 balls that almost got our Men...'s 1st Grade side across the line in an amazing run chase, ultimately ending in a drawn match. Special mention to Zac Phair (89) and Nuwan Kavinda (52) who laid the platform for the run chase. Honourable mentions go to Maddie Blazely (3/14 and 25*), Joe Fryett (67) and Owen Swain (5/20), who all played key roles in Lions wins. Week 3 - Mark Derham made his maiden century for the club with 106 not out in a great win in our KSCA 5th Division side. This followed the great man Simon Coogan taking his maiden five wicket haul with 5/45 off 7. Both magnificent efforts and could have gone either way! Other performances around the grounds include Louise Maddock 63*, Jacqui Triffitt 28* & 2/11, and on the first day of our Men's 2-day matches, James Faulkner 142, Dan Whittemore 99, Chris Brown 93*, Zac Phair 73, Nuwan Kavinda 68 and Louis Smith 4/24. A great week for the Lions! Head down to the Whaler for great tunes, vibes and burgers.

10.01.2022 It has been a great first half of the season across all Grades, which sees the club placed top of the Club Championship, and 1st place in Men’s 1st Grade, Women’s 2nd Grade and Under 17 Boys. The club adopted a new club song at the start of the season, and it is great to see all players from Under 13’s to First Grade sing the song with pride. Wishing all our members and supporters a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we’ll see you all again in 2021. #LionsCricket #AllForOne #OneForAll

09.01.2022 @louisrcsmith is First Grade player #354 and he received his First Grade cap from fellow all-rounder and skipper for the day @jfaulkner44. At just 15 years of age Louis is a super talent and earned his spot in the side with some great early season form, and took 3/15 off 6 overs in his First Grade debut. #LionsCricket

08.01.2022 Our @the_whaler_hobart Performance of the Week goes to @ryan_lees24. After a tough first session, Leesy charged in after the lunch break and got through the Glenorchy top-order, which opened the opportunity for the side to bowl Glenorchy out with less than 10 minutes remaining in the days play and secure great win. Well done Leesy - a Lion effort!! #lionscricket
