19.01.2022 Is CV fraud a crime? Have you ever embellished your curriculum vitae (CV) when applying for a new job? According to conservative estimates provided by the Australian Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), 25% of people include inaccuracies in their CV. There are varying degrees of falsifying, or lying, on a CV which may be considered a crime, depending on what the inaccuracy is.... There are crimes of fraud and forgery, and sometimes inaccuracies in a CV or reference could amount to either. Additionally, the inaccuracies might mean a tort of deceit has occurred which leaves the person liable for damages. It might also be a breach of a term of an employment contract and lead to termination of employment. But again, all of these depend on the actual nature of the inaccuracy, the intentions of the person, and the relevant area of law. People who intentionally include inaccuracies in their CVs face the possibility of losing their jobs, facing court action and media attention, study programs terminated, as well as being banned from practicing in their profession. If you are applying for an Australian entry visa with an inaccurate CV, you and your close family members might be banned from applying for any other visa types for up to 5 years! You are entitled to describe your personality and experience in the best possible way, but the main rule is that the underlying claim can’t be untrue. If there is something that an official or an employer needs to know or has a right to know, you shouldn’t omit it either. Source: https://www.law.unsw.edu.au/news/is-cv-fraud-a-crime

18.01.2022 3rd December 2019 ELICOS students went on an all-new excursion to Maroubra Beach which is a hot spot for swimmers and surfers. Teachers and students strolled along the beautiful sandy shore and later on settled in a park nearby with BBQ facilities. Students liked the sand play and took literally hundreds of photos. The BBQ cooking was particularly memorable for all. http://upc.edu.au/2019/12/06/maroubra-excursion/

15.01.2022 COCKATOO ISLAND SCHOOL CAMPING TRIP Cockatoo Island is the largest of several islands that were originally heavily timbered sandstone knolls. Originally the Island rose to 18 metres (59 ft) above sea level and was 12.9 hectares (32 acres) but it has been extended to 17.9 hectares (44 acres) and is now cleared of most vegetation. Called Wa-rea-mah by the Indigenous Australians who traditionally inhabited the land prior to European settlement, the island may have been used as a fishing base, although physical evidence of Aboriginal heritage has not been found on the island. http://upc.edu.au/cockatoo-island-school-camping-trip/

11.01.2022 Coronavirus Update (6th February 2020) Up to this date, over 500 people have died of the coronavirus and 25,000 people tested positive in the world. The matter is serious but prompt actions taken by the authorities around the world have slowed down the spread outside China.... Since there has not been credible information about the real situation in China and when the outbreak will be contained, a number of controlled measures have been taken by the Australian Government. Please note that the attendance procedures of UPC has been updated (see UPC Attendance Procedures against coronavirus) to adopt the authorities’ recommendations. 02.01.2022 14th November 2019, It was a fun priviledge for our English and Childcare students to enjoy an excursion day at Featherdale Wildlife Park, and all the more because of the train and bus trips. From this visit, students have experienced a lot about Australian native animals and how the keepers look after them on daily basis. During the lesson time, everyone was allowed personal touch with a shingleback lizard, an 11-month old wallaby and a children’s python. There was so much f...un listening to the zookeeper’s talk about the interesting facts and knowledge of them. A lot of us were also amazed by the cute little penguins and how they were fed. All attending students have definitely got the importance of wildlife to our world and how hard the wildlife carers have rescued and protected endangered animals from the deteriorating habitats. http://upc.edu.au/2019/11/20/excursion-14th-nov-2019/
