17.01.2022 Happy to say that the Model 3 race car we produced in under a week just broke the street tire record and race slick records for a Tesla at Buttonwillow Raceway.... This car is street legal and was driven from LA on autopilot using the same tires that it ran the record lap with. TeslaCorsa 9 was great! Prep for Pikes Peak with Randy Pobst continues on... Street tire lap: 1:54.26 (record) Slicks lap: 1:53.27 (record) Today was Oscar Jackson’s first time driving a Tesla and he set both of these records in 100 degree heat. The lap on slicks was on 50% SOC. We’ve now beaten our goal of beating the latest Porsche 911 991 GT3 RS fastest lap using street tires. This car as-is will run Tsukuba approx 58 seconds. 05.01.2022 Unplugged Performance Innovation Wednesdays - Week 6! And the new debut is... Ascension-R front diffuser for the Model 3 Ascension front fascia. Our Ascension a...nd Ascension-R aero systems have been designed over multiple years as a cohesive aerodynamic solution. We’ve developed all of our parts using CFD in collaboration with the world’s top motorsports aerodynamicists. With the Ascension-R package we have reached an ambitious goal: create significant front and rear downforce gains in appropriate F/R balance, all without detrimental impact to drag. A future update to our popular CFD white paper will illustrate details on the results. Until then, we will continue to validate on the racetrack what we already know to be true in CFD. Our first test resulted in lap records and our future tests include Pikes Peak with Randy Pobst! See more
