24.01.2022 Are you getting enough sleep at night? Do you have problems falling asleep or staying asleep? According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), about 1 in 3 American Adults do not get healthy amounts of sleep. And stress can make the problem even worse. The NIH says adults need 7-8 hours of sleep each night to stay in good mental and physical health, promote quality of life, and avoid an increased risk of injury. They recommend these tips for getting a ...good night’s sleep: 1. Go to sleep at the same time each night, and get up at the same time each morning, even on the weekends. 2. Don't take naps after 3 p.m, and don't nap longer than 20 minutes. 3. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol late in the day. 4. Avoid nicotine completely. 5. Get regular exercise, but not within 2-3 hours of bedtime. 6. Don't eat a heavy meal late in the day. A light snack before bedtime is OK. 7. Make your bedroom comfortable, dark, quiet, and not too warm or cold. 9. Follow a routine to help you relax before sleep (for example, reading or listening to music). Turn off the TV and other screens at least an hour before bedtime. 10. Don’t lie in bed awake. If you can’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, do something calming until you feel sleepy, like reading or listening to soft music. See more

24.01.2022 In general, red meats (beef, pork and lamb) have more saturated (bad) fat than chicken, fish and vegetable proteins such as beans. Saturated and Trans fats can raise your blood cholesterol and make heart disease worse. The unsaturated fats in fish, such as salmon, actually have health benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish and some plant sources, as part of a heart-healthy diet, can help reduce the risk of heart failure, coronary heart disease, cardia...c arrest and the most common type of stroke (ischemic). And have you heard of Toxin Generation Speed? Cooking certain meats at high temperatures can create compounds that damage DNA and protein in our cells, which can lead to health problems in the long term. Your genetic results can increase this risk above the average. Basically, we test these genes associated with how quickly your body creates toxins - some are at a higher risk of DNA damage from eating smoked or chargrilled animal protein. With these results it is advisable that some people limit consumption of grilled or smoked meat to just 1-2 servings per week. Could this be you? 09.01.2022 CACAO AVOCADO TRUFFLES - 1/3 cup of mashed Avocado - 1/2 cup Dark Chocolate Chips - Cocoa Powder... - Sea Salt 1 - Add avocado and a sprinkle of sea salt to a food processor and pulse a few times to combine. 2 - Melt chocolate chips by placing them in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwaving for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 20 seconds or until all the chocolate chips have melted. (You can also do this with a double boiler). Pour melted chocolate into food processor with the avocado and pulse until mixture is completely combined and avocado is no longer visible. If you don’t have a food processor you can mash the avocado with a fork and combine with the chocolate until smooth and lump-free. 3 - Place truffle mixture in the fridge to set for 30 minutes. Once the mixture has firmed up a bit, remove from the fridge and make the truffles by rolling a tablespoon at a time into a 1-inch ball. You should get about 10 truffles. Fill a shallow bowl with cocoa powder and roll each truffle until coated. Place on parchment paper. If you’re going the sea salt route, skip the cocoa powder and simply sprinkle a few sea salt flakes on each truffle. Store in the fridge until ready to serve. #recipes #lowcarbrecipe #keto #testdontguess #healthyeating #pcosdiet #fertilitydiet #hormones #glutenfree #caloriecounting #flexiblediet #foodasmedicine #leanbody #infertility #love #ketorecipes #holistichealth #guthealth #detox See more

07.01.2022 SUGAR: It's doing so much more damage than you think. Sugar addiction is real. Science shows it's comparable to cocaine addiction! Withdrawal symptoms, cravings & relapse behavior are similar to that of a drug addict. No, you’re not crazy & it’s not all in your head. With the average person (probably unknowingly) consuming 82 grams of sugar (that’s 19.5 teaspoons) per day, it’s no wonder we’re a society of addicts. The effects of sugar on your health are disastrous. When o...ur blood sugar is spiked, insulin floods the bloodstream. Overtime, this causes your blood sugar to stop responding to insulin. Because insulin is constantly in the bloodstream, sugars don’t get removed which leads to diabetes, brain fog, exhaustion, constant hunger & depression. After consuming sugar, your immune system is depressed for a few hours, meaning you're more susceptible to catching a cold or other illness while riding that sugar wave. Refined sugar is also known for stressing your adrenal glands (which regulate cortisol, the stress hormone) & your thyroid (which secretes hormones responsible for maintaining your metabolism, cognitive function and body temperature.) Cortisol levels often rise when there is an increase in blood sugar levels, which means our stress levels become less manageable, & we’re likely to feel exhausted, wired & anxious Sugar also depletes B vitamins from our bodies’ stores. B vitamins are crucial to our mental health, hormonal health and overall energy levels. Without them, we feel increased feelings of anxiety & depression, have a higher likelihood of insomnia, our sex hormone production declines (bye bye, libido!), & we are more likely to experience fertility issues. THE KEY is to eat to stabilize our blood sugar. Eating a well-balanced diet of fiber-rich carbs, quality protein & healthy fats will satiate you & keep your hormones in balance. Regular exercise & sleep also help!
