24.01.2022 The safety of health workers should be urgently addressed. Australian doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers are nearly three times more likely to get COVID-19 than other Australians, a new study of the early pandemic period from UNSW Medicine's Kirby Institute estimates.
20.01.2022 UPDATED 23 JUNE: As Sydney’s COVID-19 cluster continues to develop please stay across the evolving situation. Here’s what you need to know today: Students and staff who wish to, and are able to, work or study from home until the current restrictions are relaxed (at this stage, Thu 1 July) should talk to their lecturer/supervisor about options. ... If you live or work in the LGAs of Randwick, Bayside, Canada Bay, Inner West, City of Sydney, Waverley or Woollahra, you cannot travel beyond metropolitan Sydney for the next week. All the new rules at: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules/what-you-can-do-nsw You now need to wear a face mask across Greater Sydney and beyond in many settings - now including office environments, public transport, retail venues and more (we encourage this in all indoor settings on campus too). Get tested immediately if you have any symptoms, or if you’ve been to Bondi Junction Westfield (inc. carparks) between the 12th and 18th of June. Be on high alert & keep up to date with venues of concern at https://nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates and follow the health advice. Don’t come to campus if you’ve attended a venue of concern at the times indicated, or if you’re unwell even with very mild symptoms. Get your vaccine as soon as you’re eligible!

13.01.2022 "I hope that I inspire other Indigenous students to take up engineering and that eventually there’s so many that when I walk into my workplace, I’m just one of many." Rachel McVittie, proud Martu woman and UNSW Engineering alum, says everybody needs people to believe in them, because that's what pushes you to better yourself. At UNSW we celebrate the unique passions and diverse stories of all our students. If you have ambition, bring it. Because we know that’s what the world needs. The world needs you. unsw.to/study
12.01.2022 As #NAIDOCWeek concludes for this year, we recognise that the past 8 days have been both a tremendous celebration for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people alike but also an opportunity for reflection. In the words of UNSW Law's Prof Megan Davis, NAIDOC Week provides "an opportunity to understand where we are today, and to be inspired by the possibilities of tomorrow; a place where First Nations people take a central and rightful position within the Australian political and cultural landscape." We will continue to acknowledge the Bedegal people, who are the traditional owners of the land UNSW Kensington is on, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories and achievements not just for NAIDOC Week, but each and every day. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe
