19.01.2022 NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League competitions in 2019
14.01.2022 UNSW Rugby League 1966 to 1971
08.01.2022 During Orientation week at UNSW 24 men signed up with rugby league and 2 women. This is an encouraging start to the project to bring UNSW back into the NSW Tertiary Rugby League competition. However to obtain official UNSW approval of a rugby league club on campus in 2019 will require : Further player recruitment after O week; forming a club committee to be responsible for managing the club activities on and off the field. This should be mainly enrolled students/alumni;... recruiting and appointing a coach, trainer and team manager access to facilities for training and playing drafting a financial budget for 2019. The next steps in this project are: contact each student who signed up in O week to confirm their interest, and ask if they can encourage other students to get involved in the rugby league club. ask students if they are willing to join the club’s committee (President, Secretary, Treasurer, Registrar) as well as playing for the club. Maintain contact with UNSW rugby league old boys association and encourage further involvement - three UNSW old boys (Clive Fitzgerald, John Wilkinson and John Reed)provided excellent support during O week. Complete the application to form a new UNSW sports club for rugby league and seek affiliation with UNSW Arc Sports Administration. Begin recruiting coaches, trainers and team managers for the UNSW team through the NSW Rugby League website and contacts. .
04.01.2022 In 2019 there is an opportunity for UNSW students to play rugby league in the NSW Tertiary Students Gala 9s competition on 13 April 2019 at Peter Hislop Park, Berala. The 9s game is exhilarating for experienced players and first timers. The emphasis is on running and passing, with a 6 tackle limit, and 9 minute halves. Call John Pinkerton on 0421 084 918 to register your interest.
