23.01.2022 Did you know aluminum foil can be recycled? It’s best to scrunch into a fist sized ball though. We’ve been collecting foil in a jar for a while now. Last night we ordered some dinner which came in foil trays. I simply washed them out with the dishes and now I can fill them with the smaller foil pieces, ball it and pop in the recycling bin....

22.01.2022 Dropped some E-waste off today at Frankston High School. Easy as If you’ve got broken electronics which are no good for anything, make sure you dispose of them responsibly. Your local council should have a list of places or perhaps you’re lucky enough to have one of these bins nearby. Thanks Frankston High School Eco Team! ... #ewaste #electronics #ewasterecycling #recycle #recycleright #unwasteful #notlandfill

22.01.2022 Have you jumped on board the #refillrevolution yet? BYO containers and refill with eco-friendly household cleaning and personal care items. PS- This is my small business!

21.01.2022 Local beach clean coming up Feb 17

20.01.2022 So it appears that my first upcycled floor cushion has been claimed by the fur ball I’ve made 3 cushions from the kiddy couch I pulled apart. The kids have claimed one each. Good for home schooling desk chair comfort. My youngest has even been sleeping with his one These are so much better than the ugly foldout couch it once was. And the best part is that we’ve extended the life of the foam and avoided landfill - for now anyway.

20.01.2022 Upcycled yoghurt bucket into decorative plant pot! You’ll need: a plant (I’ve got a few spider plants I’ve propagated) plastic yoghurt bucket, slightly bigger than the plant pot... a piece of fabric large enough to tuck in around the bucket How to: Simply place the bucket in the centre of the upside down fabric piece Tuck the edges of the fabric up and into the bucket, pulling as tight and straight as you can Carefully place plant into bucket! That’s it! An easy way to reuse containers and fabric #upcycle #containers #yoghurtbucket #reuse #repurpose #diy #indoorplant #spiderplant #potplant #fabricscrap #zerowaste

20.01.2022 My latest project: upcycling this horrid kiddy foldout couch thing. My daughter got this for her birthday around 8 years ago and it’s had a good life but now it’s pretty stained and doesn’t hold its shape. I’d previously thought about sewing a cover for it but that seemed too difficult. Now I’ve unzipped it and pulled out the foam pieces and I’ll recover them with fabric from my stash to make smaller floor cushions.... This type of kids toy is often found in hard rubbish so it’s nice to be able to prevent it becoming waste when a little time and effort can turn it into something else useful.

19.01.2022 THIS!! Peninsula venues are embracing the #contactless pour!!! Have you noticed more and more local venues are joining the global #contactlesscoffee movement? ...A win win for the customer, the barista, our beaches and bays! Is your cafe is still a little unsure? Be sure to share our 'how to' clip far and wide. Once your venue is in we'll add them to our new #BYOcup friendly website directory. 5 STEPS - HERE's HOW -- 1. Customer pops their reusable cup on the counter 2. Barista pours the coffee shot into an in-house vessel 3. Next - pours it into the customers cup without touching it 4. Steamed milk is poured on top - no touch! 5. Voila - the customer places their own lid on - done! It couldn’t be easier and of course it works for tea etc. just as well. #contactlesspour #BYOcup #wastewisepeninsula #supportlocal #supportlocalbusiness #mornpentogether Sonder Coffee Mornington Peninsula Shire Dolphin Research Institute BERG Mt Martha Mount Martha Life Saving Club Boomerang Alliance City to Sea Mount Martha Yacht Club Plastic Free Peninsula Zero Waste Victoria Sustainable Table Sustainability Victoria

18.01.2022 Making the most of our recreational/exercise time outside today. Walk along the beach and a play at the park. Small amounts of rubbish picked up - cans, straws, wrappers, butts and a couple of really gross things #frankstonbeach #frankston #lovewhereyoulive #beachpatrol #frankstonbeachpatrol #take3forthesea #litterpicker #binyourbutts #strawssuck #saveourplanet

17.01.2022 This is why recycling can be so confusing! Photo 1 is a meat tray where the plastic film can be recycled if you leave it on the tray. Photo 2 is an icecream tub which says plastic film to go in the bin even though there wasn’t any film on this product at all ... Photo 3 is an empty bag of frozen peas which you’d think could be recycled via RedCycle but no Australasian Recycling Label at all!?!?! So many inconsistencies! Are others noticing this?

15.01.2022 Mum and I did a plant swap, complete with spare bottles for me to use for my refills @rovingrefillsfrankston We organised a joint plant order from @conservation_collective & my sister got some too. Mum grew her own plants to gift me. Free plants are awesome! I can’t wait to get stuck into the garden this afternoon ... #nativeplants #nativegarden #gardensforwildlife #gardening #propagation #freeplants

15.01.2022 20L of rainwater collected yesterday! Popped out a few empty drums, buckets and containers to catch the rainwater falling from the verandah. Will save it for the garden next time it needs watering. Do you collect rainwater? Or maybe put your indoor plants out for a drink when it’s raining?

12.01.2022 We’ve been in the garden today and how can you not on this gorgeous day?! So nice to see flowers and new growth. This native section is just over 12 months old. Today hubby and I removed some old roots, created a new walkway through the back between plants and the fence and popped in a few newbies picked up from Conservation Collective Native Plant Nursery yesterday #gardening #gardensforwildlife #nativegarden #frankstonsouth #lovewhereyoulive

10.01.2022 It’s WorldEnvironmentDay There is so much we can do to appreciate and take better care of our amazing planet. Our #startwithonechange campaign is all about ...not getting overwhelmed and instead starting in our own backyard focussing on the many things in our own control. One of the most important and do-able changes every Aussie can make is to reduce single use plastic and encourage our families and friends to do the same. 09.01.2022 Let’s bring back the BYO cup!

08.01.2022 Following on from the previous lemony post: I made citrus vinegar. After juicing the lemons (last time) I popped the skins into a jar and covered them with vinegar. Let sit for 2-3 weeks and strain off into bottle. Top up with water. Citrus cleaner! I’ve made a new batch with lime skins after juicing those. Will be ready in a couple of weeks. ... Now to clean all the things!

07.01.2022 Pop this date in your diary and spend an hour in a location near you picking up rubbish. It might not be your rubbish, but it is your planet

06.01.2022 Buckets out! It sounds kinda cool when the drips ping into the different sized containers! #everydropcounts #watercollection #saveitforanonrainyday #reuse #gardening #water #rain

06.01.2022 Progress on the upcycled kiddy couch so far: I’ve used a large fabric scrap to wrap two pieces of foam (like a present), folded and pinned the material and I’m hand stitching it. There is nothing fancy going on! No measuring, ironing or machine sewing. Just scissors, pins, needle and thread. ... I’m already imagining sitting outside in the sun with a good book...

05.01.2022 It’s a warm windy one today I’m using the rainwater I collected recently to water my newest patch of my native garden. The sticky everlasting daisies are looking gorgeous. Can’t wait for more flowers

04.01.2022 Mum and I did a clean this morning at Frankston Beach. Two half bags. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it might have been after the storm last week.

04.01.2022 While it’s nice outside I’m getting onto the gall on my lemon before those little things hatch! It’s easy: grab a peeler and scrape the gall to expose the eggs! Oh and excess lemons for the neighbours
