Evatt competition takes the form of a mock session of the UN Security Council, where teams of two students debate, amend, and vote on a prepared resolution from the perspective of their assigned nation. The students judged the most effective diplomats proceed to the next round and may compete in the State Grand Final to win a place at National Evatt. Taking on the role of an international diplomat gives students an avenue to explore the hard-and-fast world of global diplomacy and struggle together, forming complex solutions to international security conflicts. 20.01.2022 Next up in our anonymous appreciation series is Sarah Scott, our Director of Communications! Sarah has been an absolute champ this year for UN Youth Tas. The consistent quality and attention she brings to all of her work is unbelievable, and this makes her a rock that everyone else in the division can rely on. She’s continuously pushes herself to improve on every post, every project and every suggestion, and does it all with an unmatched level of kindness and compassion. Her efforts have been invaluable in guiding the division through 2020 and I can only see Sarah going from strength to strength in her future pursuits in UN Youth and elsewhere.

First up we have our President, Alex Crellin! Alex is an easy-going person, it is really easy and nice to discuss or talk about anything with him. ... He is also really passionate in his role as the President of UN Youth Tasmania and inspires everyone to do their best in this society. He is a great communicator, always makes sure that everyone gets the right information, and organises great meetings. It is great to have Alex as the President of UN Youth Tasmania and I wish him all the best in his future!

After several state events Kelly attended both the National Conferences and the National Evatt Final in 2018. 04.01.2022 Next up in our appreciation series is Alexander Hall! Alex (Gary? Gaz??) is always a delight to work with. He’s sincere, focused, and terrific at what he does. It’s easy to see Alex’s passion in his work for UN Youth: his efforts are at the core of what keeps this organisation running. What’s truly impressive is the way Alex brings a positive energy (and good fun) to every UN Youth meeting and event he attends. I’m keen to see where he goes from here and wish him good luck for the future!

Since then she has been actively involved in events: attending state and national conferences, state and national Evatt competitions and participating in voice. Her vision for this conference is to hold an enjoyable event that’s perfect for those new to UN Youth and more experienced delegates, full of engaging negotiation, exciting speakers and fun! Jemima is currently studying an Arts/ Law degree at Monash University, majoring in politics and minoring in international relations. In her free time, she enjoys trying (and failing) to roller skate, taking care of a small forest of houseplants, cooking, spoiling her cat and debating!
