25.01.2022 Our featured PASS Leader today is Jenny D’Arcy. She is facilitating Foundations of Chemistry IA CHEM 1101. Don’t worry, we’re not recruiting Bilbys for PASS, this is a piece of Jenny’s artwork - how cute this is? . What’s the best activity you’ve found to do in online PASS? Talking through questions. .... What made you want to become a PASS Leader? I’ve had a lot of different experiences as a university student in the past, both good and bad, and I want to be the person I’d wished had been there for me when I was struggling as a young student all those years ago. When I started my degree, my goal was to do the best I could and get good grades (my hope is to go on to do postgraduate studies); and then I decided that I also wanted to support my peers as much as I could so that they could do the best that they can. . #adelaideuni #passprogram #peerassistedstudysessions #studytips #tip #biology #chemistry #foundation
25.01.2022 A reminder that some courses have revision sessions throughout the mid-semester break. And they are all online which is easier to join from home. . If you have any problems that need to be solved, come to our revision sessions and let our leaders help you out. . And if you don’t have any specific question, why don’t consider joining and having a recap of your course?... . Either way, you still have benefits from joining a revision session. We will see you then. . [ by @hyningjournals ] #adelaideuni #passprogram #peerassistedstudysessions #midsemesterbreak #revision #revisionsession See more
24.01.2022 Our lovely Asia and the World facilitator is Isabella Wilson! A Bachelor of Peace and Conflict student, Isabella is here to solve any study-related conflicts you may be having with her peaceful and compassionate abilities as a facilitator! What’s the best activity you’ve found to do in online PASS? Playing fun games, like kahoot, that help in reviewing previous course content. .... What’s your best study tip? Attend lectures and tutorials, study with friends, and ask as many questions as you want! . Did/do you attend PASS as a student? Why would you recommend it to other students, especially first years? I attended PASS sessions for a course called Empires in World History and Japanese. I found them to be really enjoyable, and at the same time, very helpful when participating in useful activities that reviewed course content. I would recommend these sessions if you are finding it difficult to understand the course content and need new ways of reviewing the content. They are also a useful way to meet new people who would understand your position. Isabella is running her sessions Thursdays from 2:10-3pm in EM324! A wonderful opportunity to meet new people and bond over the many trials and tribulations of study!
21.01.2022 Exam tips #11 from Harry Tsakalos PASS Leader of CHIN 1002: - A nice and cold bubble tea before exams is a great nerve-chiller! - Remember to charge your laptop, reboot your router. - Make sure your phone's mobile hotspot is ready to use (just in case). The Unwind 00s on Spotify is the perfect playlist that is recommended by Harry. 15.01.2022 Are you ready for our next PASS Leader? Today, we present to you Jency Jiang a lovely ECMS Leader. Jency is currently facilitating Probability & Statistics MATHS 2103. . What made you want to become a PASS Leader? This might sound cliché, but I enjoy helping others, and I find it rewarding when people suddenly have their epiphany moments chatting with you. Being a PASS leader is the perfect way of getting these rewarding feelings, and you get to work with many like-m...inded people, which is definitely a bonus. . Does facilitating PASS sessions match your expectations? I think so. My first PASS session was a bit stressful, because I was trying to learn things as well. All my attendees were very understanding and actively participating in the session, which helped me a lot. I feel that I am getting more comfortable and confident with running the sessions now that I have more experience. I also get to chat with many of people in the sessions from various fields. 12.01.2022 Snacking is a hobby for anyone who loves food. However, the type of snack also matters to your health. . Having unhealthy snacks (also called junk food), such as potato chips, microwave popcorn, cookies and nutrition bars, regularly can lead to diabetes and other disease. In contrast, healthy snack, such as nuts, Greek yogurt and fruit, can strengthen your brain and even lose your unwanted weight. . These healthy snacks can be eaten anytime throughout the day and you do...n’t consume too much calories for yourself too. 09.01.2022 Jack Hislop is our dynamic Dynamics facilitator for PASS this semester! Studying Mechanical Engineering (Honours) with a Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Jack’s inertia is undeniable! (Is that the correct usage?) . What’s the best activity you’ve found to do in online PASS?As a PASS leader so far I’ve found that when students work in groups of 3 in Zoom breakout rooms, more of them actively participate in discussion and problem-solving. . What’s your best st...udy tip? Do not spend too much time taking notes outside of lectures. Solving practice problems is far more effective revision than rewriting notes from lecture slides. . Did/do you attend PASS as a student? Why would you recommend it to other students, especially first years? In my first year, I attended PASS for many of my subjects and found it better prepared me for my final exams. PASS tries to lead students to a far greater understanding of their subjects by having them discuss ideas and questions, instead of answering questions individually and then checking the answers like a tutorial. While this may be difficult at first for some students, in the long term, it leads to a better understanding. . Jack is running Zoom sessions every Monday (12-1 on the Ingkarni Wardli Ground Floor) and Thursday (1-2 in the Hub West workshop) so come along and say hi! See more

06.01.2022 Meet Elise Prior! Elise is studying Psychological Science at an Honours level and is our current facilitator for PSYCHOL2005- Foundations Health and Lifespan Development! . What’s the best activity you’ve found to do in online PASS? Kahoot! quizzes .... What’s your best study tip? Where appropriate (and in psychology, it is usually more than appropriate!), apply content to real-life situations/contexts, which will aid in deeper memory encoding. . What made you want to become a PASS Leader? I was inspired to become a PASS Leader after such positive experiences attending PASS as a first-year student. I was privileged to have a PASS Leader who was dedicated, knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming. I want to ensure that current students also have a positive PASS experience and therefore I hope to emulate the traits of my former PASS Leader as a PASS Leader myself! .
