Throughout the four year degree we do 800+ hours of placement, primarily in year 4. I’m so passionate about all aspects food, and especially where it comes from and the nutrient composition. Claire chats with the guys about: What it’s like to work in rural pharmacy Benefits and career opportunities in rural pharmacy What support and opportunities are available to pharmacy students on placement How you can get the most from your pharmacy placements ~ Here’s a little snapshot of what you can expect from the episode: Before placements start, I encourage my students to think: what are your strengths, what are your weaknesses? What do you want to get out of your placement? How can we make this happen? Whether that’s 'I’m not very good at counselling'. Okay, let’s think of some activities that you can do while you’re on placement to help. A rural placement exposes you to what’s out there, to diversify. 01.01.2022 Yesterday, these OT students showed us Coffs Harbour... today, they share some of their learning experiences from placement (because it’s not only about the beaches, you guys... ). The 2nd year students have participated in a sensational senses workshop during their time in Coffs, where they explored proprioceptive, tactile and gustatory stimuli - with plenty of laughs along the way! Then, last week, they tried their hand at splinting. View their photos below ... Missed yesterday's post? 01.01.2022 Places are still available for Medical Radiation Science students wanting to go rural for a semester or year in 2021! Express your interest https://bit.ly/2YYFKVr If you’re in second or third year of radiation therapy or diagnostic radiography, this program is for you. You could find yourself in Tamworth, Taree, Coffs Harbour or Port Macquarie next year, making new friends and learning new skills. Here's what Hayden has to say about his year-long placement in Port Ma...cquarie: It's given me a massive advantage on the rest of my cohort. We’re supported to attend interprofessional learning activities and openly discuss scenarios with other health students. All of which has boosted my clinical skills. I also enjoy our early morning surfs before placement, trail runs with kangaroos and our Sunday ritual of a fish on the break wall! #UONDRH #studyandtravel
