21.01.2022 On Friday 13th November, staff from across UOW College Australia participated in our first ever virtual celebration of NAIDOC week. The theme this year is ‘always was, always will be’. Throughout 2020 UOW College has been participating in the Internationally acclaimed Jindaola Program. Jindaola reflects an Aboriginal way towards reconciling Indigenous and non-Indigenous knowledge’s in the Australian higher education curriculum. Members from the UOW College Jindaola team spoke and we were lucky enough to have Jade Kennedy, a local Yiun man and facilitator of the Jindaola Program join us to share his own personal experiences and reflections on how we can best support our Indigenous students and community.

18.01.2022 The University of Wollongong (UOW) Tottenham Hotspur Global Football Program provides a unique opportunity for students to develop their football skills while pursuing a degree of their choice. UOW College student Lincoln Harwood is pursuing a Certificate III in Fitness and has been playing the game for about five years. He said the Global Football Program was hard work but it was worth the effort to get full advantage from the program. Hard work is the key to success in this program. At the start of the year, I was not playing for any club, then was moved to a local club and within three months I was moved to the South Coast Flame Football Club, Lincoln said.

18.01.2022 NAIDOC 2020 Always Was. Always Will Be. The theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week is ‘Always Was. Always Will Be’. Australia is home to the oldest living civilisation on Earth made up of hundreds of nations and cultures that spanned this continent. This week, we acknowledge and celebrate that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. This week we celebrate their knowledge, achievements, stories and connection to country. NAIDOC 2020 ...invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history that dates back thousands of generations. NAIDOC is about opening our minds, and to listen and learn. We may not be celebrating NAIDOC Week the same way we usually do, but all of us can still get involved. There are many wonderful virtual NAIDOC events happening around the country and we encourage you to get involved. For more information on these events make sure you visit www.naidoc.org.au.
