12.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM Hi! My name is Julia Millburn and I am the project manager of the outdoor learning space team 1. I am currently in my third year of studying a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in civil engineering. I am passionate about improving the access to education in developing countries, particularly the education of girls. I applied to be in this program because it is an incredible opportunity to give back to a less-fortunate community as well as gain valuable profession...al experience to bring to my future career. In my free time I love to stay active, I play basketball, netball and have recently picked up AFL for something new to learn. I have 3 older brothers and have grown up to be resilient and determined, something I hope to bring to the execution of this project. Travel is another thing I love and I am so excited to have the opportunity to travel to Tanzania. DONATE: https://www.gofundme.com//humanitarian-engineering-tanzani or SHARE with your friends!

08.01.2022 Our team is currently designing, fundraising and communicating with stakeholders for our project of an outdoor learning space for children. The school is in a remote village in Tanzania, it is over crowded and under-resourced. We hope our outdoor learning space can ease the pressure on the school as well as provide a new and fun place for these kids to learn. This page will be used for our fundraising events as well as updates throughout the project design and construction ph...ases. In July we will travel to Tanzania to construct our design with the help of locals. We are very excited about this opportunity to help others using our engineering skills and hope you will follow us through this journey! Pictured is a map of Tanzania and the Manyara region where we will be executing our project.
08.01.2022 HI GUYS, We hope everyone is staying safe in this uncertain time. Disappointingly, our project may be postponed until November due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. However, this is great for our fundraising efforts. More time means more money to build the best learning space possible! If you can spare even $1, or share it with your friends we would be extremely grateful! We are also on the look out for businesses who have a passion for helping people to sponsor our project i...n exchange for advertising on this page and your logo on our team shirts! More info about this to come! If you have any other way you are willing to help or fundraising ideas, please don't hesitate to contact us.
01.01.2022 The village where we will be constructing the outdoor learning space is located in the Manyara region, an hours drive from Babati, in the central north of Tanzania. The school we will be working with has got 450 students and is run by a NGO called 'So They Can' which has 36 schools in Tanzania and Kenya. The community in this region is very young with more than 47% of the population of school age. This is why it is so important for education facilities in this region to be maintained and improved. Our outdoor learning center will increase the capacity of the school and improve the quality of education children receive. DONATE https://www.gofundme.com//humanitarian-engineering-tanzani
