24.01.2022 Get ready for a ‘virtual’ party!!! With Covid being a bit of a set back for our presentation this year, the UOW hockey club has decided to do a ‘virtual presentation night’ on 31st October!! The gist is that we gather in teams or groups to celebrate the year, and starting at 5.30pm, the Facebook posts will start coming in about who has won awards throughout the year, as well as those who were nominated for club awards. It’s time to gather with our teams (abiding by the guidelines) and celebrate the season that no one will forget!!

Let’s keep that uni spirit up and come away with a 1st grade win!!!

22.01.2022 Tune into the latest episode of The Help Side featuring Tristan White. Also check out the earlier edition on Flynn Ogilvie. If you are unacquainted, this podcast features a range of interesting interviews with hockey players past & present from Australia & abroad. Well worth a listen!!

21.01.2022 Congrats to our U11 indoor team who won the GF tonight. Winning their semi 5-1 v Robbo, they followed up with another super team effort to win the GF 4-2 over Park. A great little team, superbly coached by Will Orth.

18.01.2022 Sutherland hockey club has started a fundraiser to support one of their club members Scott Olsson during a difficult time in regards to medical complications. Scott previously played alongside a number of UOWHC members at Uni games and it would be fantastic to see support for Scott and his family from not only members of Sutho hockey club, but also UOWHC. The link to Sutho Hockey’s page is below which contains a link to the fundraiser page. http://www.sutho.com.au//sutho-help-scooter-olsson-and-fa/

18.01.2022 Next we move on to The Andy Micklethwaite Goal Keeper Award. This award goes to a keeper who has had an awesome season as keeper and this recipient is no exception! The Goalkeeper of the Year award goes to Maddi! Here is a note from her Captain: ... Maddi has been an absolute asset to have in our club. She came to us as a first year Uni student from Corowa and highly recommended by long time Uni Hockey members, Matt & Clara Davis. Very early on, we realised just how fortunate we were (and still are!) to have Maddi be part of our club and in our teams. For the last few years Maddi has been the GK for the Uni 1st Grade Women’s side, she has also played in the Men’s competition, and helped with coaching and general assistance around the club. Since joining the 1st Grade Women’s team, Maddi has played a massive role in our success, helping us to make 2 Grand Finals, and 1 unforgettable Premiership! We love Maddi in our team not only because of her amazing talent in the goals, saving ridiculously good shots time and time again, but also because of the qualities she brings to the field, games and team environment. Maddi is a humble, encouraging and resilient player, whose positive and practical mindset is to be admired. She is without a doubt, a deserving recipient of the 2020 GK of the Year Award - Well done Maddi! - Kate Davis See more

12.01.2022 The women’s most improved is our next award and could have gone to a number of candidates across multiple grades this year. The women’s most improved player for 2020 is Madi! Here is a message from her team. Madi was the youngest member of the women's first grade premiership team in 2020. She was promoted to first grade on the back of an impressive 2019 season which saw her gain selection in the NSW U15 Blues team. Madi came into the team with plenty of skill, speed and fitn...ess and she was quick to find her feet in the faster-paced first grade competition. Taking on the feedback and encouragement from her coach and teammates, Madi worked hard to develop her defensive skills, namely close marking and ball distribution. By season's end she was regularly amongst the best on ground and her performance in the grand final was exceptional. Madi is thoroughly deserving of this year's Most Improved award and we wish her success for the 2021 season as she works towards gaining selection in the NSW U18 Team. See more
