25.01.2022 #TEAMTHURSDAY Hello, I am Jordan and I am the Driver Training Manager for 2020. I am in my 3rd year studying Music but in the process of transferring to mechatronics. Something interesting about myself is that I got to 343rd fastest in the world on Gran Turismo 6. In Driver training, we prepare and shortlist drivers for our competitions and make sure everyone who gets in the car is confident and well trained. I am responsible for making sure the system is run smoothly and be...ing there to help any member or recruit when needed. It has taught me that training drivers is more than just get in the car and go fast. Theres more physical and mental elements for the drivers that need training. #race #engineering #motorsport

25.01.2022 #TEAMTHURSDAY Hello, my name is Brandon and I am the Low Voltage Manager for 2020. I am currently in my 2nd year studying a double degree of Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science. I love wakeboarding, hiking, and enjoy building things and programming. In my system, I build the car electrical harness, design and solder various PCBs, and program the VCU. I am responsible for power distribution, vehicle control (VCU, interlock etc), and data acquisition wiring. It has t...aught me CAD/EDA skills, soldering/electronics, and programming skills that you cant get from in the classroom. I enjoy this system because you can learn various practical skills, gain valuable knowledge of electronics/programming, apply university knowledge practically, gain in-class advantage through a thorough understanding, and is a huge advantage for employment. #motorsport #engineering #electricvehicle

23.01.2022 #TeamThursday Hey there, my name is Jed and I am the Drivetrain Manager for 2020. I am in my 3rd year of a Mechanical Engineering here at UOW. We design and manufacture the drivetrain, this includes motor selection, gearbox, and packing considerations. I am responsible for ensuring the goals of the drivetrain are met through effective human management and time management. This system has taught me that oil leaks are a bad thing that can happen in motorsport. This system is i...mportant as it allows members to learn important engineering concepts such as maximising efficiency and other design considerations that can help you in your degree and in the future. #motorsport #engineering #electricvehicle

23.01.2022 #TeamThursday Hey there, I am Liam and I am the Electrical coordinator and acting Chassis manager of the team for 2020. I am in my 4th year studying a Mechanical Engineering degree. If you knew me, you would know that I think that nothing beats UniBar chips. In the system of chassis, I design the chassis and work with others to manufacture and test it. I work closely with others to create a chassis that is safe and meets packaging requirements without compromising performance.... Being involved in chassis teaches you aspects of most other systems on the car. They all require some form of mounting, so an understanding of the forces acting on the car through systems such as suspension is needed to ensure the chassis design is optimal. Liam was also our Taner Gecer MVP recipient for 2019, awarded for his extreme dedication and commitment to our team, very well deserved. #studentlife #motorsport #MVP

08.01.2022 #TEAMTHURSDAY Hi, my name is Lucy and I am currently spending my third year of studying Geography at UOW, one year-exchange from the University of Exeter in the UK and I am in the Race Division at UOW Motorsport. I joined the team because I had heard a little bit about the team and the FSAE competition before I arrived in Australia and thought it would be a really cool way for me to meet new people while being able to explore my interest in watching motorsport to actually bei...ng a part of a motorsport team. Ive really enjoyed learning more about how these race cars are designed and put together and be a part of the hours of preparation for competition. One of my most enjoyable moments in the team was helping get two cars ready before and during FS Sydney and watching them compete out on the track. UOWs Motorsport team has been a great community to both work on race cars but also enjoying time off track too. A weekend-trip to the Bathurst 12 Hour in the summer break was also one of the highlights. Id definitely recommend getting involved with the team, even if you may just be at UOW for a short time like I have been, its been an amazing opportunity to explore my interest in race cars while also meeting people that made me feel at home in my time in Australia. #motorsport #race #femalesinmotorsport

05.01.2022 #TEAMTHURSDAY Lets Meet Team Principal Andrew! Hello, my name is Andrew and I am the Team Principal for UOW Motorsport in 2020. ... I am in my 4th year studying a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering and Computer Science. The team has lots of different systems to it and is split into the 3 divisions Technical, Business and Race. Each system has its own set of unique skills and tasks that all combine together to make us compete with such awesome vehicles. Each division has many managers with a more specialised focus inside the team with no real limit on what we can achieve as a team. Along with the serious stuff we all love to have fun too with social events including BBQs and bowling which are great bonding times, as you do have to remember we are all students to and love to have some fun with friends and making new ones! As the team principal I look after the team as a whole to ensure that it all runs smoothly all year round. Being a part of the team has taught me heaps, and not only things directly related to my degree but life in general. How to manage people, how to create electrical systems, how to lay up carbon fibre, how to setup ordering accounts, and heaps more! The team for me has taught me lots that I could not have learnt in the classroom alone and helped create friendships that I will never lose. Recruits should join the team as I think its a great way to apply what you learn in the classroom to a real application, no matter what degree you study. The team gives people the opportunity to design, create and develop things that you might not get to do whilst studying at other universities or working in other fields. Whether race cars have always piqued your interest growing up or whether you want to attempt a new challenge there is always something on to do. The most rewarding part is seeing the final product developed by the entire team. UOW Motorsport is one club that I can hands down say, I will never regret doing this. #studentlife #motorsport

04.01.2022 #TeamThursday Hey there, my name is Gustavo and I am the Autonomous Manager for 2020. I am currently in my3rd year studying a Bachelor of Information Technology. I joined the team in 2018 to learn how a car works and to drive. The team finally put enough trust in me to race their car at the 2019 Formula SAE-A competition. However, I struggle with my left and rights and a computer doesnt! I am now leading the effort towards implementing an autonomous driving system to the exi...sting car. The goal of this system is to conduct research, design, and implement a successful autonomous driving system that is able to compete in the dynamic events during a competition. I am responsible for guiding members of this system into learning the many systems involved in creating a working autonomous system. Taking on the challenge of managing and researching this system has given me the opportunity to appreciate the amount of work that others have done towards creating a future in autonomous driving. #race #motorsport #engineering #electricvehicle
