21.01.2022 ANOTHER SECTION OF THE PAC HWAY OPENING TODAY!!! WELLS CROSSING TO GLENUGIE 8-kilometres of new highway is opening TODAY between Wells Crossing and Glenugie. Th...is is the second last section to open between Woolgoolga and Ballina. The entire 155-kilometre Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade is due to be completed next month!! Wonderful to see this major piece of infrastructure coming to completion. There have been 3000 workers on the project in it's lifespan. The number of fatal crashes on the highway has more than halved since the upgrade started. Following the opening of the new northbound lanes, the Old Pacific Highway will be temporarily closed for up to 72 hours between the new Parker Road access and the northern connection to the Pacific Highway. This is to allow construction works to be completed to reinstate the Old Pacific Highway to two-way traffic. For information about this upgrade, click this link: https://www.pacifichighway.nsw.gov.au/

16.01.2022 This is only one side of the story. Ive been a blueberry farming in the area for over 20 years i currently employ around 6 local employees . I would love to hav...e more people from the local community pick on my farm. There is a simple reason we have to use outside labour, not enough unemployed people in our community want to work in the farming sector. There would be around 3000-4000 ( dont quote me please) sesonal workers in the area. Over the last 20 years i have always paid full award wages with super and workers comp. It hurts my feelings that some of my community wish to so easily brand all farmers as thieves and wrong doers. There are always bad operators in every industry even doctors, accountants, tradies but we dont paint them all the one colour. I have work available between 7/12 to 15/1 for summer berries, please email me on [email protected] if you want to work on my farm See more

08.01.2022 What’s a Storz fitting ? It’s a fitting used by rural and town fire brigades to connect pumps, hoses, nozzles, hydrants or anything that needs a connection t...o fire fighting equipment. It’s the quickest way to make a connection rather than having to screw a fitting round and round up to ten times, the Storz fitting only requires a quarter of a turn. Any new houses or major extension rurally will usually have to have a Storz fitting attached to concrete or metal tank for fire fighting purposes. Even if your house is old, consider fitting a Storz fitting so your brigade has the capability to get water from your tank for fire fighting purposes. 65mm is the recommended size. See more

08.01.2022 Halfway Creek and many other crews have been out most days this week, so please no more fires.
