24.01.2022 Welcome feedback received today from a uPaged nurse who flew to Melbourne to help with the crisis ... "Ive been in Melbourne for a week now and Im loving it, working in aged care, with regular staff who have been so grateful and appreciative of all the fly-In nurses. Its made the work seem easy and we work really well together, sticking it out - Ive really felt like part of the team and not like an agency nurse at all. Were just giving the residents the human care they n...eed so its really fulfilling. Weve had no new positive cases and no shortage of PPE. Im doing 12-hour shifts and the regular staff are doing their usual shifts. The facility is a 13-minute Uber ride away from my accommodation, Im in walking distance of a supermarket, and thats been fine for me. The whole process has been so easy - everyone has been really on to it from uPaged to the facility. Ill be there for at least a month, but Ive got no concerns at all." See more

24.01.2022 Big fat shout out to all the Nurses working in the COVID Testing Clinics - you are absolute legends. Today, we witnessed patience, professionalism and grace personified in the crew out at Bondi Beach, despite windy, warm conditions where nurses in full PPE handled frazzled and anxious members of the public who had endured a (luxurious, by comparison) 3-hour car line to get tested. Equally amazing were the team at Rushcutters Bay who had walk-in queues into the hundreds when ...we snuck past for a sticky beak. Were indebted to all those working hard in the testing clinics around the country (big hello also to the uPaged nurses at Fairfield and Balmain and Darlinghurst) - we know its not easy - but we thank you. Finally, enormous thanks to all the uPaged nurses who jumped in overnight to help out SydPath and St Vincents at clinics around Sydney. Youre worth your weight in gold.

Not only does it keep us on the track of continuous improvement and make sure we are meeting (if not exceeding) the expectations of nurses and healthcare organisations, it usually makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Buuut, we are all about transparency and we know that sometimes there may be something niggling about what we do (or what we dont do) that sometimes we dont hear about. ... We always want to hear from nurses and hospitals about what we can do to make their on-demand / contingent workforce lives easier. Anything youd like to pass on to us? 15.01.2022 Happy days! We were starting to all get a bit down-and-out with COVID fatigue, and then we got some outrageously good news today, in the form of notice of our success in making it through Round 1 of the Boosting Female Founders grant. Hoorah! Feeling more than a little stoked that uPaged has made it to the top 130 from a pool of 2200 applicants.... So what does this mean? Bottom line is that were in the running for a grant of up to $140K of Australian Government funding to do some really, really cool things with our tech to scale our business into domestic and global markets. Bring on Round 2! On the (not so quiet) .... we have a game-changing project that were keen to put the funds towards to reinvent the future of the nursing workforce market ... (and If youre a nurse, weve got your back).

15.01.2022 Lovely feedback from a uPaged nurse today ... "I just wanted to let you know I had my first shift as a uPaged nurse at Chris OBrien Lifehouse on the weekend and it went really well. I left full-time ED nursing a few months ago and it was my first time in ICU so I was a little nervous, but the staff were just amazing and made me feel really at home from the moment I arrived. They knew all about my skills and experience during handover so I got allocated patients that were a g...ood match for my experience, and I had a really manageable patient load. The day seemed to go really quickly (even for a 12-hour shift) as there was enough to do, but I never felt stressed or rushed. I feel really great about how it all went - from applying for the shift via uPaged to signing off at the end of the day. And the bonus? Getting a 5-star review from the hospital - it made my day!" (Its hearing things like this that make our day! )

14.01.2022 COVID has presented quite the conundrum for nurses who would usually update annual mandatory competencies through face-to-face training, and were feeling it here at uPaged. Problem is, if youre a uPaged nurse and you have expired mandatory competencies flagged on your profile, hospitals cant invite you to, or book you in for shifts. The good news is that online training is being accepted at this point in time. All you need to do is create your profile, upload your documents, and then set and forget (until you get a nudge that something is about to expire). No more scrabbling about to find your documents, and work out whats due when. ... Add your work experience, list your mandatories, post-grad, certs, training and work experience, along with WWCC, immunisation history, AHPRA - everything you need to work as a nurse in Australia. And presto - online resume for life. How cool is that? Better yet, its free. Yep - thats right. Costs you nix to register, upload your docs, keep them in order, and get reminders about renewal dates and all. Perfect for nursing students and new grads as well as experienced nurses. Your profile is only accessible by you unless you set your availability to work because you also want to secure work in hospitals (If youre not looking for work, just remove your availability and no need to follow any instructions on the site about getting shifts). Simple!

04.01.2022 Lets talk ratings and testimonials. On-demand nurses seldom get feedback about the work they do, and hospitals rarely get any feedback from the nurses who come in at sometimes a moments notice to fill a shift. On-demand nurses (let alone healthcare workers) havent ever been included in any of the national workforce surveys weve seen either.... We recognised this as a brilliant opportunity to scoop up that feedback on a shift-by-shift basis and in real-time, with two-way ratings and testimonials for hospitals and nurses. Nurses get rated on Time Management, Communication and Competence, and the shift manager has the opportunity to provide a testimonial (which we always encourage, because, well ... we all want to learn and grow and better ourselves as nurses).
