25.01.2022 Wow, I can't believe we're now approaching the halfway point for Term 3! We have slowly transitioned back into face to face lessons and are taking extra precautions to maintain social distancing to keep everyone healthy during this time. This term, I have given extra challenges to my students which I can't wait to share with you all over the coming weeks. Congratulations to Kate Lowry for her successful year 10 Solo Performance at Hunter School Of Performing Arts. Check out this small snippet of her performance!

23.01.2022 For me, there is nothing more satisfying than when things just start to "click" for students. This is an accumulation of practice & passion. Students begin to play more confidently and start to see what is possible behind a drum kit. This is 10 yo Ben absolutely smashing Greenday's "Warning" with such control and confidence. Go, Ben!! Show him some love!

18.01.2022 Dear Upbeat Family, I have decided to make the transition to move all face to face lessons online by the beginning of next week. I am determined to maintain a high standard of teaching whilst also making this transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved. Thank you to everyone for their kind words of support. 15.01.2022 I'm so excited to be teaching at Teralba Public School this term! The first lesson was such a success and I couldn't ask for a better group of students! Here's to another fun-filled term of drumming!!!

14.01.2022 Thank you Teralba Public School!! I'm so grateful to have had the oppurtunity to work with such a great group this term. These kids gave up their own lunch times to be involved! Each week, they showed up with huge smiles on their faces, ready and eager to learn. I'm excited to say that I will be back there next year to continue the program! 14.01.2022 Well, that's a wrap! Our first showcase was a huge success! I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all the students who came to perform, and to all the parents, family and friends who came to watch and show their support. Words cannot describe how proud I am of every student that got up on stage. It's no easy feat and I am incredibly happy with everyone's efforts. It has reminded me of why I started teaching in the first place.... Here is some sneaky footage of the day! Can you believe some of these students are only 4 years old?!!

14.01.2022 Hey guys! Meet Sebastian! Bas is never one to shy away from a challenge. When I showed him a live version of this song, he was determined to learn it. Check out the right-hand triplet pattern around the 1:10 mark! Wowsers! Go, Bas!! I'd also like to shout out to all drumming parents out there. These are the people behind the scenes setting up and loading gear, turning pages of music and even on occasion becoming a portable camera stand. We all appreciate you!

07.01.2022 Today I organised some trial lessons with students to make sure the new online platform is functioning well. And it went off without a hitch! I'll be scheduling times with all my students to go through set up, camera placement and audio playback to make sure everyone is comfortable moving forward. I will also put up a few videos on how to access online lessons from your phone or computer.... Thanks again for everyone's patience, I'm so excited to resume lessons with you all again!

07.01.2022 Upbeat is holding it's very first End Of Year Showcase! This will be a great afternoon of students making music and showcasing all their efforts and hard work from throughout the year. The performances will be backed by The Hummingbirds Collective band. Held at Kahibah Sports on Sunday 24th November. Doors open @ 1:30pm. Tickets on sale in the event. ... Come along and show your support!

05.01.2022 If this doesn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what will!! This is Leo smashing it at his school performance, and boy does he look the part! This year, I’m encouraging all my students to take up any sort of musical opportunities that present themselves at school. Sometimes that first performance is enough to make you realise that it’s not such a big, scary event after all. So why not give it a go?

02.01.2022 Term 1 is off to a roaring start!! After a few weeks solid on stick control, we’re now getting close to the fun stuff! I’ve been busy transcribing lots of new songs this year, can’t wait to sink our teeth into them!
