Of course this is perfectly timed with WA Day tomorrow Our favourite way to celebrate just about any occasion (or non-occasion) is with local cheese and wine - and while this pairing seems like the 'social norm', it's actually science. The proteins from the cheese coat the palate of your mouth and the tannin and acidity from wine helps cut through the fat coating to 'cleanse your palate' and balance the flavours . This coating also helps protect your palate from harsh tannins in wine, which brings out some of the more subtle flavours, making the wine appear smoother. 08.01.2022 Lots of people (including us) are urging the community to support small, independent and family owned local businesses more than ever before. Here are just a few of the small ways that we can all support local small businesses without reaching any further into your pocket than you would otherwise be 1. Buy your health and hygiene needs from a local pharmacy or independent supermarket rather than a national (or international) chain. They've had enough publicity. 2. Keep getti...ng your morning coffee! Support local cafes for as long as they are able to stay open, your morning coffee means just as much to them as it does to you. Txt ahead your order and pay by card. Its only a small purchase, but if we all do it then its a valuable one. 3. Need a Birthday/Anniversary/Easter/Mothers Day gift? Buy a voucher for a local experience. Not only does this support small businesses with cash flow at a really tough time, but it also requires no social contact whatsoever. And if this crisis has taught us one thing, its that enjoying a life experience is so much more important than physical possessions (such as toilet paper). Vouchers are now valid for 3 years so theres no immediate urgency to use it. 4. Get your fruit, veg, honey eggs etc from a local farmgate. Not only will there be less people than at your supermarket, the produce is so much fresher and will last longer (and taste better!). 5. Drink local! Lets face it, we are all going to enjoy a glass or two at home while we are 'social distancing', so why not choose something that is made right here in WA. We have some amazing producers that are more than happy to deliver to your door if you cant get to them (hit us up if you want any recommendations). Which brings us to the next point 6. Buy direct. When you do need something, whether in person or online, go direct to the source. Weve all seen the Facebook meme about the small business owner doing a happy dance every time they get an order right? Its completely true and it makes a huge difference to the bottom line when you buy direct rather than through a third party. 7. Write a review. If you are looking for something to do while 'social distancing' and/or 'self-isolating', write a review for one (or many) of your favourite small businesses - it costs nothing but it will literally make someone's day and also help them get back on their feet when they need it.

07.01.2022 CHD. Its the subject of many conversations and debates on our wine tours! Oaked, unoaked, malo, bottle age, Gingin clone vs Dijon clone (theres actually many more clones worldwide). There are so many variables in the way that a Winemaker can approach Chardonnay - and thats before you even take into account the environmental factors - so its definitely understandable why this grape can be so polarising!
