18.01.2022 I truly enjoyed every moment of restoring this piece for a friend ....it amazes me how sometimes these furniture pieces tell a story of its own !! Upon sanding back this little gem, I started to realise- it had many layers of colour hidden beneath the white. I have embraced the original colours with the contrast of the white and a timber waxed top finish. The back board needed a little feature, so to give it a translucent look.. I decoupaged on raw timber a floral print napkin. Unfortunately this piece is a custom order and not for sale. But loved the results of Story (l like to call it ) I had to share with you @upcycledmeetssalvage by Simone xx

12.01.2022 What’s it story ( the history behind the piece ) So this is a new thing we thought we would do , so you can all see what actually goes into our pieces.. Today we start with what for me was the ugliest & oddest find l have been gifted .. Now l probably would have tried to give it back or dumped it again myself, but my husband who is only just getting used to this Upcycled stuff ( yes he loves Modern )... Well he found it for me & he was so excited that he found something with potential l didn’t have the heart to tell him l dont think an item that highlights smoking as a feature in your home was a good idea? Yes it’s an ash tray holder.. obviously a thing before we knew better ! Ok so l tried to get rid of it many times but something kept me from doing it (yes probably guilt) So l thought ..it’s only going to work , if it’s given a new purpose .. so l played around & finally paired it with some off cuts from an old table . Some muscle , polishing , painting & gluing later We have a funky side table which l actually love (Don’t tell him he was right ) Sian Painted in Blake & Taylor s Toulouse chalk paint & highlighted with bright silver details It’s now available in store Swipe right to see it before
