25.01.2022 I have been working on this special piece for quite a few weeks. In between so much stuff happening behind the scenes at Our Little Gem including Viney's Place, our big girl moving away, and the pain I feel with my hands continually. In any case after so much deliberation I feel I am happy with this beauty. She started with the idea of simplicity and she did get a little lost however I found her coming back to the classic beauty that she is. At some point she travelled the... seas from the Northern Hemisphere as she does shows signs of oak. Over time I feel that some changes have happened and she has become a little bit of a mish mash although still beautiful. I do know that she lived in Albany WA for a long period of time. She served well in an iconic Bed & Breakfast known as Rosemont House. In recent times she made her way to Queensland. She is now in Harrisville and looking regal in our shop front. Her piecrust edging and veneer detail make her unique & special. She has been painted using Made By Paint - Chalk & Clay Furniture Paint - 'Emerald'. And then treated to nourishment and finished with Made By Paint - Finishing Oil - 'Walnut' Those beautiful bun feet gilded with Gold leafing along side her original handles. Her drawers are stenciled with French Script from My Stencil Lady and components of the Hokus Pokus Decorative Transfer - 'Baroque' This beauty 'Rosemont' is looking for her new abode. These loved and classic 80's beauties are now only suitable as display chairs.... purposeful for a plant or two on your verandah or patio out of the weather. They have been sealed however our sunshine is too harsh for them.. They are perfect for a bathroom or laundry to introduce some greenery. 18.01.2022 Well this is a little bit exciting ....across from Harrisville is Kalbar...and it's a short 15 min drive And We are 1hr from the Goldie, 1hr from Brissie & 25min from Ippy...so get yourself in the car and come over...there a days worth and more of places to see and things to try and explore....next week I'll make some time to check out the range of sweets and yummies on offer at the Postmasters Sweets...and if anything how scrumcious does the shop look

15.01.2022 Meet 'Harris'... This beauty and a part of our Australian history.... I know his life from the last 20 years and before that who knows ...He is 90+ years old ..... From Ipswich to Mackay and back again ...now in Harrisville ... He is of pine construction and has most definately had some additions over the years..the wear and tear is clear and whilst he was prettied the shelac, varnish and wear left him broken and out in the weather... Choosing to embrace his imperfections I added more... Layers of Made By Paint Chalk & Clay Furniture Paint using colours Mustard, Parchment & Barley. More texture created for additional age and imperfection using 'Rendura' & Crackle...finally sealed with Polyseal and a layer of Dark Glaze applied for more of that antique glow.. The interior display has been painted with Parchment and an Aussie Decor Transfer applied ..this one is Australian Wildflowers II - Proteas... This product is perfect to add some slight colour to a raw timber surface when sanded or refresh an existing worn piece as in this one .... Finishing Oil is perfect on painted surfaces also.
