23.01.2022 Join the Evolution!! UK festival Boomtown Fair have committed to a 50% reduction in emissions by 2025, including a 50% recycling target! Part of the Festival Vision 2025 Pledge: that's solid. Kudos to those leading the festival industry towards a greener world by taking strong, measurable strides. ... No doubt they'll overshoot and beat those targets - while nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of this movement. Reengineering the way we al do things is a massive project, and it goes beyond the gates of any one festival. However, there's no doubt that going the way of share & reuse systems - while also de-carbonising the energy sources at events - will make huge savings to waste and bank balances. Watch this space. 17.01.2022 It may take 2 yrs but the festival scene will bounce back, partly because outdoor venues offer 1.5m ++ Also partly b/c everyone is gonna want to party once this lockdown thing is over. After all, when the Berlin Wall fell they partied for 30 years.

08.01.2022 We're big fans of the people at Stop Ecocide: Change the Law, who're attempting to work with developing countries threatened by climate change to make committing ecocide (the unnecessary harming of nature) a crime under international law. We highly recommend donating, becoming an Earth Guardian, and signing up to their email list for a regular dose of positive news. From the most recent email:... "While the UN general assembly may have been disappointing on a number of fronts, there were two striking bits of news: Russia, the 4th largest emitter of CO2 in the world, has signed the Paris Climate Agreement this week and 65 countries and major economies (such as California) committed to cut greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. 03.01.2022 "The use of wind turbines in households is becoming more and more popular. Wind power like other natural power sources can be quite volatile, but it’s still a highly sustainable power source for those who want to live an off-the-grid lifestyle. A Dutch renewable energy start-up called The Archimedes, developed this product named Liam F1 turbine which is a small and silent wind turbine that will change the way we view wind power. Their product will be able to generate 1,500 kWh of energy per year and can be installed on the rooftop of a house. The best part is, that when the Liam F1 is matched with solar panels, it can generate enough power for an entire household. This way you can alternate between the use of solar power and wind power, having a backup in case the weather conditions are not suitable for you."
