10.01.2022 Really none of us know how many moments in this life we have. These are the wise words of Sally Hewitt and this is just one of the multitudes of thought-provoking statements in episode 3. Sally will break your heart yet fill you with hope and it’s through her grief-stricken heart which grappled with loss that Ageing Gratefully (@ageinggrategully) was born.... In a world where women are exalted for youthful looks and discarded for ageing, Sally chose to take a stand against ageism which perpetually tells us happiness is found in youth. Ageing Gratefully is the rebuttal to society’s ideals of happiness as Sally says, ‘Life itself is a gift. and we are not entitled to life, we’re not entitled to anything within our life and that’s why my tagline is to ‘count your blessings not your years’. 03.01.2022 'When I grow up I want to be How many times did we think or say this statement as a child? Then at some point we become adults and stop thinking ‘when I grow up’. Instead we get jobs, grow older and begin dreading or maybe even begrudging the bodies that society says are ‘showing signs of age.'... Today I’m introducing you to Sally Hewitt, my friend who calls us to shift our focus from loathing the idea of growing old to instead focus on the beauty of what ageing really means. After heart-breaking loss, Sally found deep healing from her grief and pain when she began focusing on what she was grateful for. One place she found such gratitude was in the gift of ageing because it meant having the chance to continue living. Being in that state of gratitude and healing led her to create @ageinggratefully which challenges the perception that being younger is better and instead calls us to celebrate our age and the life that has carried us to where we are today.
