23.01.2022 Hi everyone. Here's an update of my improved garden beds, and the start of my banana circle. In the last post showing the beds, I hadn't planted anything, now I've started the edging companion flowers, which are mostly Marigolds, Zinnia and Allysum, and planted some fruit trees. I have some tomatoes growing on the trellis, and some cucumbers on the arch trellis, some blueberries, pineapples, Pommegranate, Guava, Feijoa, passionfruit and Soursop, with more going in every week.... My crop areas are going bare this season unfortunately as I've changed things up a bit, but will start again with my winter crops. This is quite a small yard, but as I make improvements, it's becoming clear I can grow more food than my family needs here. If you're interested in what could be done with your yard, no matter the size, feel free to message me, I'll come out and have a chat. Cheers.
21.01.2022 Since the day I decided to start Uplift - Urban Permaculture, I also decided my own yard should reflect my knowledge of Natural Systems and how to use them to grow an abundance of food. So I offered my landlord a free garden makeover, and slowly but surely I've been changing up the yard, using the money I make from selling Worm Tea. Here are some pictures showing the small changes I've made over the last 9 months.

We can help you create abundance in your backyard too. https://returntonow.net//forest-garden-with-500-kinds-of/
17.01.2022 Here's a quick design I did of my yard. It shows the fruits and berries, along with some others. It shows about half the plants that will go in, with medicinal plants, companion plants, and ground covers filling in the shaded areas and garden bed edges. Crop areas have been marked, and some fenceline trellis yet to be decided. Pooling water is directed into the Banana Circle, and most of the green waste will go into the centre of the Banana Circle (It's a pit). Self composting, fertilizing and holds water for the plants in the circle, it's a brilliant feature to have in any yard. If you're interested in what I can do with your yard, send me a msg, a Consultation is $30 per hour, I can come around, have a chat, and work out what's best for you. *Note. Actual design will cost extra, depending on yard size*
15.01.2022 Over the last couple of weeks I've been laying out my improved garden beds. Some soil was dragged out of the old beds, layered with compost, then paper and cardboard and finally mulch. Ground cover seeds have been spread, and now it's onto the planting phase. You can see around the older patch of mulch, how well the edges benefit, this is where I will plant companion flowers and some herbs. But for now, it's time to start planting more fruit trees.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays.
