23.01.2022 Bridget and Steph had a fab time this afternoon chatting with the lovely team at Miners Rest kindergarten about all things motor skill development and school readiness. We loved sharing our little tips with you! Thanks for having us team, it’s always a pleasure collaborating with our local educators!

23.01.2022 Well we think the new year calls for colourful pancakes with sprinkles for breakfast! The Uplift team hope all our kids and families have a fun filled 2021. #breakfastofchampions #newyearsday #familylife

22.01.2022 Speech, language, and interaction are all different- and we get this can be so tricky for our families when we are setting communication goals. Receptive language is the ability to understand words and instructions. Expressive language is the child’s ability to request objects, make choices, ask questions, answer, and describe events.... Whereas pragmatics is the child’s ability to engage and use language socially with the people around the child. This is why you will see us using play and activity to support the child’s communication skills.

21.01.2022 Thanks to all our supporters who have donated to our Uplift team in the Run for Autism, we have well and truly raised our target but will keep plugging over the week as we are committed to the cause! Go team today, I believe a fair few of us will be cracking the 20km mark today so great effort!

20.01.2022 How often do your kids get out in nature to be free to just be and play? Small parts play is amazing and you never know what will come out of it. Our therapy team have been making a focused effort throughout this crazy year to help our kids reconnect with nature, as we know all about the therapeutic power it brings. It helps kids not only connect to their environment, but assists natural sensory regulation and connection with the important people in their lives. #natureplay #regulation #socialthinking #victoriaparkballarat

20.01.2022 And right there is why we use a collaborative team approach to support our kids to develop whole body regulatory skills and be supported to co-regulate within their caring and trusted relationships.

14.01.2022 This looks fantastic, does your child aged between 5-12 need some help learning how to ride a bike? Bike riding can be such a great social activity to enjoy together, in addition to being fantastic for strength and coordination, and regulatory. Why is bike riding a potential regulatory activity you say?... - Rhythmic and repetitive using both sides of the body - Relational (have a good chat or go enjoy a nice cold drink afterward together) Time to get out and enjoy some time on the bike!

14.01.2022 Happy International Day of people with a disability! We always look at every individual’s strengths, interests and abilities rather than a diagnosis. Like cupcakes, we are all different but we are all wonderful! Thanks @the.little.cupcake for helping us celebrate! #thelittlecupcakeballarat #idpwd2020

13.01.2022 When we talk about regulation with our families, we always talk about co-regulation. Often our kids come in with goals to self regulate, but none of us can self regulate 100% of the time. When we have really big feelings we all need a bit of help from people we have trusted relationships with. This is called co-regulation, and it requires our caregivers to understand how the child is feeling, be with them in the moment, and support them through the moment. Years of co-regulation in the context of trusted relationships is how we help kids to build self-regulatory skills.

12.01.2022 From tomorrow morning we will have a @reverseadventcalendar ready to be filled - we would love you to bring a non-perishable food item into the clinic or our therapists can bring any items back from home visits to pop into the box! We can’t wait to fill it up, and also understand that this time will be very tough for some Ballarat families so we will also do a post about where to contact if you need support or food at this difficult time. Thanks @ballaratvetpractice for the b...oxes! #ballaratfamilies #ballaratbusiness #reverseadventcalendarballarat See more

08.01.2022 Uplift has exciting things planned in 2021, and hopefully one of those is to find a wonderful paediatric speechie to join our team! Please share, or tag someone that you think would suit our lovely little team. Whilst this role will start with two days per week, there is an additional option of casual Saturday work, and room for growth in future.

08.01.2022 The Uplift team and their significant others will be cranking up their Spotify playlists and lacing up their runners for the upcoming Run for ASD. We are running in support of all our families and kids with neurodiversity, and to help raise money to support research. We will be completing the challenge between the 1-8th of November and will post updates along the way so you know how we are tracking. We all have different goals in mind so get on board and support us in this te...am journey. If you would like to support the team via encouraging comments, page shares, or sponsoring us feel free! 05.01.2022 Today is RU OK Day, and we want you to know that is OK to feel not OK, and to ask for help. We all need a little help sometimes. Today is a good day to not only check in on the people you care about but also yourself. How are you feeling? Are you embedding joy and self care in your day today? Be kind to yourself not only today but always.

05.01.2022 Happy OT week!!! And what better way to celebrate it than to introduce you to our lovely new OT, Adele. Positive, bubbly, nurturing and a child at heart; all the qualities that Adele possesses. She believes that the sky’s the limit when it comes to therapy, and that a disability does not define a child and their potential in life.... Adele enjoys working with individuals across the lifespan to promote independence and participation in their activities of daily living and is particularly passionate about working with children with disabilities. Adele has participated in dance from a young age, including Ballet and Calisthenics. She loves incorporating her dance training into her sessions to implement occupation-based therapy to address gross motor, sensory processing, and social emotional development difficulties. Adele holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Occupational Therapy Practice from Monash University. Adele is available on Saturdays fortnightly as she joins our wonderful Saturday therapy team.

01.01.2022 Thank you to our wonderful families for your understanding and continued enthusiasm throughout a challenging year. Thank you to each of our therapy team members who have banded together beautifully to continue to provide a quality and responsive service, and it is now time for everyone to have a rest. We hope our kids enjoy lots of quality time together with their families and loved ones.... We hope the educators we partner with get to rest their busy minds after a whirlwind term 4. We hope our carers and parents get time to breathe and have some version of downtime between the family catch ups and play time. We can’t wait to see you all again from the 7th January!
