23.01.2022 Tips for talking with children about COVID-19. Children will inevitably pick up on the concerns and anxiety of others. It is important that they can speak to you about their own concerns. Answer their questions. Do not be afraid to talk about the coronavirus with children. Providing opportunities to answer their questions in an honest and age-appropriate way can help reduce any anxiety they may be experiencing. You can do this by: asking them what they already know about th...e virus so you can clarify any misunderstandings they may have letting them know that it is normal to experience some anxiety when new and stressful situations arise giving them a sense of control by explaining what they can do to stay safe (e.g., wash their hands regularly, stay at home as much as possible) not overwhelming them with unnecessary information as this can increase their anxiety reassuring them that coronavirus is less common and severe in children compared to adults allowing regular contact by phone or internet with people they may worry about to reassure them that they are okay Modelling calmness when discussing COVID-19 with children and not alarming them with any concerns you may have about it Limiting media exposure. Frequent exposure can increase their level of fear and anxiety. Try to be with your child when they are watching, listening or reading the news so you are able to address any questions or concerns they may have. See more

20.01.2022 Despite the improvement in the outlook for our Valley, I am disappointed to say that the Department of Education has again informed us that we will be non-operational tomorrow, Monday 18 November. The safety of all students and staff is our top priority. At the moment, I am feeling very positive about the chances of school being back to usual on Tuesday. We will keep you updated as we receive further information. Stay safe everybody and keep rain dancing.

20.01.2022 School tomorrow!! We are very excited about seeing everyone at school tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan 29)! We are especially excited about welcoming all of our new Kinder students and our wonderful new teacher, Nicky Hughes. See you tomorrow morning!

18.01.2022 It's all happening at Upper Coopers! Our legendary school concert is on this Friday at Repentance Creek Hall at 6.30. Everyone welcome! And don't forget, Kinder Orientation 10am Tuesday 27 November, Monday 3 December and Wednesday 12 December. If you know any parents with children starting school next year - invite them along!

17.01.2022 Best P&C ever!! Thanks UCCP&C for our hamper and for being wonderful. <3

17.01.2022 Visit the eels. The spotted garden eels at Tokyo's Sumida Aquarium are shy creatures who mostly hide in the sand, only poking their heads out occasionally to see what's going on. Without the usual crowds of visitors during this time, the eels have forgotten what it's like to have humans around them. To reintroduce the eels to humans, the aquarium set up five cameras around the fish tank and is asking for people to make a one-on-one FaceTime call to the eels.

17.01.2022 Eat delicious pizza and support your local hall.

15.01.2022 Our wonderful Student Representative Council is collecting donations for those affected by the recent Tabulam fires. I know a lot of people have been wondering what and where to donate. The SRC is collecting sheets, blankets, towels and cleaning products. And of course cash. Cash donations will be forwarded to the Tabulam Branch of the CWA to be spent on those families most affected by the fires. Thank you to everybody who has offered to help.

15.01.2022 Hear ye! Hear ye! It's School Concert time: Knights of the Lost Table, Repentance Creek Hall, this Friday, 30 November, 6.30pm.

14.01.2022 Everyone is very happy to welcome back the Williams bus! We missed you! <3

14.01.2022 We are so excited to announce that this year all of our students will get to be involved in regular Bush School lessons. At Bush School, children are given the space, time and encouragement to observe and explore their natural environment through their senses and creative play. Among other things, Bush School involves building, collecting and fossicking as well as investigating strategies used to connect with and care for the land.

13.01.2022 Hi all, the current advice is for our school to be non-operational on Monday 11 November, due to the bushfires in our area. It is also likely on Tuesday that the school will be non-operational. We will keep parents up to date on our school status. Please take care over the next few days. Stay safe, Jen

11.01.2022 Ahhhhh the beauty of our little school!

11.01.2022 This Wednesday May 22, 11.30am! Yes, it's that time of year again! Come and enjoy the best cake and company in the Northern Rivers and raise money for the Cancer Council at the same time. Everyone is very welcome: our Biggest Morning Tea is always a wonderful opportunity to catch up with our extended community (and eat cake).

08.01.2022 We are incredibly excited to welcome the amazing Nicky Hughes to the Upper Coopers Creek family. Nicky will be teaching at UCC four days a week in 2020, starting on our first day back (January 28 for teachers, January 29 for students). Nicky will be working mostly with our younger students, sharing her years of experience and love for small school teaching. Were also thrilled to announce that this coming term we will be introducing Bush School to UCC, led by Nicky; but more about that in our next post.

07.01.2022 I hope everyone has enjoyed a safe and restful school holiday, despite the unusual times. Term 2 begins next week. The first day for students will be Wednesday, April 29, however students will begin the term learning from home. Learning from school will begin from May 11. We are really looking forward to getting the kids back in their classroom as soon as possible and we are determined to get back to normal school days as quickly and safely as we can. Nicky and I are looking forward to speaking directly to each family early next week. Can't wait to see you all!

07.01.2022 Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates of Reconciliation Week commemorate the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

07.01.2022 Happy NAIDOC week! Awaken artwork, by Kaurna and Narungga woman Charmaine Mumbulla. "Our message, developed through generations, is echoed throughout the land: hear our voice and recognise our truth. We call for a new beginning, marked by a formal process of agreement and truth-telling, that will allow us to move forward together."

06.01.2022 Next weeks learning packs are ready to be delivered. We are looking forward to reading the letters we are collecting at each drop off spot

04.01.2022 The Department of Education has informed us that (as expected) we will be non-operational again tomorrow, Thursday 14 November. Unfortunately, there is a strong possibility that our school will also be non-operational on Friday. We will notify you tomorrow regarding this decision. Currently, Corndale Public School will remain open, so students are welcome to attend school there. We will keep you updated as we receive further information. Stay safe everybody.

04.01.2022 We love it that all of our students enjoy coming to school with our wonderful, local bus company, M.L & S.L Williams & Sons - School Bus Service Repentance Creek - Lismore So it's very important that every parent completes the online bus form that is necessary for subsidised school bus travel! Even if you filled this form in once years ago, you will need to fill it out again. Follow the link below to the transport page and where it says to click to find your bus company, wri...te Williams Bus lines OR Williams Michael in the 'add a company spot'.
