15.01.2022 William Brisbane (1842-1910) is considered to have been the principal driver of the settlement of Upper Beaconsfield, when he made sure that the local parishes were largely subdivided into 20 acre lots. An article in the forthcoming Village Bell - out later this week - will tell some of his story.

13.01.2022 "A magnificent outlook" (Rose Postcard 4521) shows "Staverton" in the centre of the photo. This property has had other names in its earlier life, such as "Alpina" when it was built c1890, and "Ardgour" when the McLean sisters owned it c1905-1940. Vernon Margetts named it 'Staverton' after a place in Tasmania his family was associated with. After her husband's death, June Margetts married Tom Rickards (of Kyogle). The Ballantynes bought Staverton in 1985.

Originally the home of Miss Moon and Miss Dick (see Village Bell Sep 2019), it was later used as a family home by the Nobles and as a family home/guest house by the Kirkwoods and the Hudsons, before it reverted to a family home to many others since then.
