25.01.2022 Game hunting returns to public land in Victoria tomorrow morning Remember, that our conduct in the field impacts our future. Remember one simple word - RESPECT http://tinyurl.com/y9uc3y45
24.01.2022 It doesn’t matter how many deer there are in Australia. It doesn’t. It’s impacts that matter. The impact of most of the deer in the Australian landscape are ben...ign. The impacts of some of the deer in the Australian landscape are detrimental and unsustainable. Until policy makers move beyond the superficial talk about numbers and focus on impacts, improvements in the situation will be glacial. See more
24.01.2022 Hunting back in Victoria from Wednesday morning. Restrictions on camping etc still apply. Article updated to include the details handed to the media at this morning's press conference. The Minister's Office has advised that further details will be available later today.
22.01.2022 I’m calling on the Andrews Government to lift the ban on fishing, hunting and golf. These recreational activities can be done while respecting social distancing. We have done a great job flattening the curve, now it’s time to bring these activities back.
19.01.2022 As a LAFO I am so sick and tired of state Labor governments who have it in for us. Aren’t you??
18.01.2022 Here’s a fun and cool experiment in deer biology the next time you sit down to a meal, first look around for any potential threats, like predators or fire. All ...safe? Next, bend your head down and press your nose to whatever is on your plate. Now, while touching your nose to your food, look around again for danger. See any? No, you don’t. All you can see is a big blurry view of the food and maybe a little of the table in your periphery. See more
14.01.2022 Passed on from the Victorian State Secretary. Cheers Hello everyone, Rumours have been circulating on social media that where a firearm licence holder is caught breaching COVID Lockdown Restrictions, they are deemed to no longer be a 'fit and proper' person to hold a firearm licence. They lose their licence and their firearms are taken away.... I contacted LRD yesterday to see if there was any substance to this rumour. The response this morning was that it all depends, and each breach involving a firearm licence holder is evaluated on a case by case basis. Examples cited were: If someone from Melbourne is found 200kms away with 3 mates at 2 am, then yes we would suspend their firearms licence. If they simply forgot to put a mask on, no we wouldn't. While we can argue that this is a huge over-reach by Vic Pol, it is far better to not break the restrictions and avoid all the grief and costs associated with being caught. Please alert our Victorian members of this development. Regards, Joe Ellul Victorian State Secretary Australian Deer Association [email protected] 0431 080 956

13.01.2022 Keep meat clean by covering it with a game bag. This also protects it from flies, which lay eggs in exposed flesh. Rubbing meat with black pepper will repel flies.
08.01.2022 Testing has been suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions, as has other Government testing such as drivers and boat licences. There are good signs that this will ease on June 9 along with a number of other activities, subject to the advice from the Chief Health Officer.
05.01.2022 Congratulations to the lucky hunters. Check your emails over the coming days for acceptance details and your invitation to the hunter education weekend.
04.01.2022 Some of our followers have been asking questions about the correct carriage, storage and possession of firearms, spotlights and ammunition while in recognised d...eer habitat between sunset and sunrise. People must not to be in possession of an unsecured firearm or ammunition and a spotlight between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise in recognised deer habitat. Anyone carrying a firearm in a vehicle must ensure it is unloaded and securely stored separately to securely stored ammunition. We have developed two short videos which explain this https://bit.ly/3cP1oyS We also have a fact sheet with more information on how to comply with the spotlighting laws at https://bit.ly/2BNrSnG
