13.01.2022 Tasmanians need to be prepared for challenging fire weather conditions towards the end of this week as hot temperatures, north-westerly winds and low humidity i...s expected to push the fire danger to severe in parts of the state. The forecast has triggered a total fire ban to be declared for Thursday and Friday for all municipalities in the south, and Northern Midlands and Break O’Day in the north. A total fire ban means it is illegal to light or to cause a fire to start in the open air. This includes (but is not limited to) incinerators, burn-offs, campfires, fire pots, and wood-fuelled barbecues. The total fire ban applies to the following municipalities from 2am Thursday 30 January until 2am Saturday 1 February: Brighton, Break O'Day, Central Highlands, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan-Spring Bay, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley, Kingborough, Northern Midlands, Sorell, Southern Midlands and Tasman. More information on Total Fire Bans and incidents in your area can be found at www.fire.tas.gov.au or by listening to ABC Radio.

12.01.2022 Upper Huon 5:1 unit with two of our brigade members are currently working at Pelham, northwest of Hobart. The crew direct Firebird 721 to drop water on burning trees too dangerous to approach on foot.

12.01.2022 Update regarding fire Watsons Road, Glen Huon. The fire is above 7th Day Road. Heavy winds have blown a tree down which has touched powerlines. A Fire Bird has knocked the fire down & crews from both Upper Huon & Huonville Brigades are currently blacking in out.

08.01.2022 Upper Huon Brigade would like to inform the community that we still remain operational even due to the current situation that face us all. We will still continue to turn out to any emergency & protect our community. However due to the current situation all training & non-essential activities have been suspended. Thankyou for your continue support of the Brigade.

01.01.2022 If an emergency vehicle with flashing lights appears in your rear view mirror you know to safely get out of its way. To help protect our emergency workers incl...uding career and volunteer firefighters, from 1 December this year, a new road rule will apply when approaching any stationary or slow moving emergency vehicle with lights flashing. It will mean you must safely slow to 40kmh as you pass the emergency vehicle. This applies whatever direction you are travelling in, unless there's a dividing barrier. Take care when slowing and avoid braking suddenly. More information at www.rsac.tas.gov.au
