It’s something we hear way too often while out walking through shopping centres. Please teach your children not to be scared of Police. Teach them, Police are there to help them, we are Safe Adults in the community along with their mum and dad, grandparents and teachers. Teach them if they get lost, we help them find their mum or dad. If they need help, look for one of us and we’ll be more than happy to assist. If our children grow up in an environment where their parents are teaching them to fear police, then who will they feel safe enough to talk to when they need help? Next time, when you and your children walk past police officers in a shopping centre, give them a wave and say hi. If it’s me you wave to, we promise to wave and say hi back.
