24.01.2022 Don’t miss this one!!!

24.01.2022 We are excited! One month to go til the Aussie Backyard Bird Count! Australia’s largest annual bird count event is back for its 7th year! Held between 192...5 October, the Aussie Backyard Bird Count is a great way to connect with the birds in your backyard, no matter where your backyard happens to be. You can count in a suburban backyard, a local park, a patch of forest, down by the beach, or the main street of town. In fact, you don't even have to leave home, making it the ultimate Covid-safe activity! To take part all you need is 20 minutes and your favourite outdoor space. Not only will you be contributing to BirdLife Australia's knowledge of Aussie birds, but there are also some great prizes on offer. Head over to the Aussie Backyard Bird Count website and register as a Counter today! https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/ The yearly bird count gives us a snapshot in time of bird numbers around the nation so if you’ve participated before and are raring to go remember the app doesn’t kick in until the count begins on 19 October (one month to go!). #AussieBirdCount See more

21.01.2022 The Wildlings Kamana Clan visited Corrin’s farm Eggspress Safe in McLaren Vale. The farm is immaculately kept and it’s clear that she truly cares for her animals - we returned 2 roosters to her which we had brought up since they were chicks. They now join the other happy animals at her farm Thank you, Corrin, for the love and care you show to these beautiful animals and thank you for sharing that with us.

10.01.2022 WORLD TEACHERS DAY We have so many wonderful reasons to celebrate our educators. For their passion, commitment, dedication, joy, skill, inspiration, and so much more. At Bush School the teachers truly put a lot of heart and soul into what they do. The effort it often requires is above and beyond. ... There really are no words to convey how special you each are... but today we thank you! #worldteachersday2020 special mention to Bunnings Warehouse Edwardstown for the amazing rock art and banksia gift to make our teachers feel special... and big thanks to the students who created these beautiful rock art decorations and also cards for teachers.

09.01.2022 Cooking on a fire: masala chai, baked potatoes and minestrone soup! The students harvested fresh veges and herbs from the school garden for the soup and then chopped them up to cook and share with their clan.

07.01.2022 Who is starting school this week?? Or have you already started? Here is a quick and easy activity! You can easily make a quick graph using natural materials fou...nd around your home, park, or from a nature walk. You can use sticks, grass, or here I used cattail leaves to make a graph of some objects we found at a lake in the Adirondacks! Use what you have and find near you! You can also have older students record the results on paper. We homeschool year-round:) It allows us to do less formal-ish work each day. I say -ish because we only focus on the basics for sit down/direct work time. The rest is interwoven in our days/lives. I will post more about what we do this week:) Have you started your homeschool year yet? or do you homeschool year-round? We are in the final stretch of the back to school Wild Math Sale! Use code "mathoutside" to save 15% on your whole order! 06.01.2022 Remember to look up on Monday night! Jupiter and Saturn are set to align on December 21, 2020, to create a once-in-a-lifetime 'Christmas star' This event, k...nown as a great conjunction, happens about once every 20 years, but closeness of the two planets makes this a very rare conjunction. With only about a 10th of a degree separating the two planets that's a fifth of the width of the Moon this is the closest they will have appeared in the sky to each other in nearly 400 years. The last time it occurred was in 1623. Assuming the weather is clear, you'll be able to see the spectacle with the naked eye, about an hour after sunset. But be quick - it'll only be visible for an hour or so before disappearing below the western horizon. (Please note: This is the view from the Northern Hemisphere. Being in the Southern Hemisphere the view would be the opposite, with Jupiter on the left and Saturn on the right.) Full story: https://ab.co/3rcP9EE
