20.01.2022 This weekend's weather might make the Fire Danger Season seem like lifetime away, but it won’t take long for the environment to dry out once we hit some hot wea...ther. Rather than making your home preparedness a stressful task, start taking steps now to clean up ahead of Summer. A well prepared home: - can be easier for you or firefighters to defend - is more likely to survive, even if you're not there - is less likely to put your neighbours' homes at risk - will give you more protection if a fire threatens suddenly and you cannot leave and have to take shelter For more information visit: www.cfs.sa.gov.au//prep/prepare_your_home_and_property.jsp

20.01.2022 A huge thank you to Carlos & all the crew at Stirling Cibo. For their very generous support of our Brigade & the CFS in general. Particularly given the very difficult time for business, at the moment. You're a champ.

19.01.2022 Hopefully something positive comes from this.

19.01.2022 An Open Letter to the South Australian community: The 2019/20 Fire Danger Season officially finishes at midnight tonight, finalising one of the busiest seasons ...in our history. The CFS really started our season in September, more than a month before our own season officially started, as a horrendous start to the season in Queensland and New South Wales saw local crews stretched to their limits. Over the next three months until after Christmas, CFS dedicated more than 1,300 volunteer firefighter and incident management personnel to help these two states battle unprecedented bushfires. Unfortunately this was only the start of our efforts this season with our own fires burning in catastrophic conditions near Port Lincoln and Yorketown in November, followed by the large fires in Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island in December and January. These were only a handful of the thousands of fires our CFS volunteers attended throughout the fire season with large fires in every Region from Keilira in the South East, Coonalpyn, Miltalie on the Eyre Peninsula and unfortunately too many others to name. I took up the role of Chief Officer in October last year and was very quickly impressed by the professionalism and commitment of our many volunteers. This year in particular they gave up so much of their time, put their lives on the line and worked so hard to not only protect their local communities but travel throughout South Australia and interstate to help others. Thanks must also go to the South Australian community who heeded our warning messages at the beginning of the season and prepared their homes against bushfire threat. Unfortunately too many homes were lost with a total of 179 burned this season, many simply because of the ferocity of the fires. The CFS bitterly regrets those losses and the tragic loss of 3 South Australians during the worst of the Fire Danger Season. The community also listened and acted when we issued warning messages. Those three lives lost to bushfires this year is three too many. However, I am thankful that we were able to provide timely and accurate warnings to the communities impacted so they could make safe decisions for themselves and their families. Thank you also to the communities for supporting us and each other throughout the fires. To see the generosity to our firefighters, especially on Christmas Day brought warmth to the heart. Thank you to all of those who have since had bake sales, fundraisers or simply donated to the CFS Foundation. That money will go towards supporting our volunteers in their time of need. I also want to thank CFS staff and our supporting agencies, SA Metropolitan Fire Services, SA State Emergency Service, Department for Environment and Water, SAPOL and all other organisations who contributed. The ability for those staff to get on with the job and provide results is testament to their abilities. At the moment we are continuing to help South Australians by being embedded in the State Command Centre for Health, managing the COVID-19 pandemic in this State. Only days after the request came through, our teams were at SA Health to support them as they faced a health emergency of unknown scale and duration. We knew anything we could do to support them as the control agency had to be a good thing. Of course the work does not end here. Our volunteers continue to attend structure fires, hazardous material incident, road crashes and to assist other agencies, as their work continues. I thank them for their amazing efforts and urge the community to continue to practice fire safety as we move into the winter months, and be careful on our roads. I dearly hope that more normal times will resume once the Coronavirus crisis has passed but South Australians can be assured that its Firefighters remain ready and available to answer calls for help whatever the challenges we face. Mark Jones, Chief Officer SA Country Fire Service

17.01.2022 Our Brigade is enjoying a nice quiet period, at the moment. After the chaos of last fire season. Since then, weve had a recruitment boom! With eight new members joining us. Im pleased to say, despite CV19, they are all now trained firefighters. So, congratulations, and welcome to Cathy, Jaxon, Emma, Sara C, Mae, Natasha, Karl, & Sara A. Wed also like to acknowledge the service of four members. Who have recently left the Brigade. Sam & Nils. Whove moved on to other Brigades. Glen, who has left the area. And John, after many years of dedicated service. Thank you all.

16.01.2022 As you prepare for fire season. Remember to leave us room to access your property.

14.01.2022 Hope everyone out there is coping with the problems posed by Covid 19. Rest assured, that your local volunteer firefighters are still ready to respond to any emergency 24/7.

13.01.2022 So someone did this to the Fire Station & surrounds over the weekend!!! If you saw people or suspicious vehicles around the station over the weekend. Or, recognise the tags. Please contact the Police.

12.01.2022 Hose drills at training tonight.

11.01.2022 Upper Sturt 34P and crew, tonight. Engaging with the community. Instructing Mt Lofty Venturers.

11.01.2022 Batten down people

11.01.2022 Will see some smoke about.

11.01.2022 Here is an image that shows why we tell people its important to crawl down low and go go go if there was a fire in your home. The smoke layers are thicker and substantially hotter higher up. You have a much better chance of escaping a fire by crawling along the floor to an exit.

10.01.2022 Heres a challenge for our girls at Upper Sturt CFS. With seven female firefighters. An all female responding crew, is more than possible. In the not too distant future.

10.01.2022 RIP firefighters.

10.01.2022 In these weird & crazy times. People are resorting to all types of things for cleaning. Just a warning of a few do nots. Home "science experiments " are not recommended.

09.01.2022 Fire Danger Ratings are an indicator of how dangerous a bushfire could be if it did occur. It is not a predictor of how likely a bushfire is to occur. Do you know what the different ratings mean?

08.01.2022 Happy New Year from your local volunteers.

07.01.2022 Looks like two Fire Ban days in a row.

07.01.2022 So true. Time to start clearing up around the house, for Summer.

05.01.2022 Timely reminder

05.01.2022 The crew enjoying our slightly delayed End of fire Season Dinner, last night. Great night had by all. Congratulations to Geoff, Jake, & Joe for being awarded the annual Captains award.

04.01.2022 It's timely on "International Women's Day". To acknowledge the contribution of women to our brigade. In the past, we've had a female Captain & Lieutentant. At present, we have two female firefighters. With another seven waiting to be trained. Also, our magnificent Auxilary has another seven woman. Last but not least. I'd like to acknowledge the support of our female family members. Without their support, we couldn't do what we do. So thank you ladies. Your efforts are always appreciated.

04.01.2022 From everyone at the Eden Hills Country Fire Service, we would like to wish you all a very SAFE and Merry Christmas! Remember to relax, eat lots and drive carefully! As always, we will be here for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

04.01.2022 Going to get blowy tomorrow people!!

03.01.2022 This time last year. "Miss April"! Jacqui. Was our only female Firefighter. Now, after a recruiting influx. We have eight more women who have joined our ranks. Next years calendar could be an all female affair!!

03.01.2022 So last night someone wiped out the fire brigades front fence. Just missed the stobie pole. Somehow kept on driving!!!
