24.01.2022 You heard it kids... its on this time next week!

24.01.2022 Thank you Dale and the team at Coles Upper Mt Gravatt for sponsoring the event. Itll go a long way to helping pay for the sausage sizzle to raise funds for charities. Nice one guys!

24.01.2022 My question to you all is... should we bring back the championships next year? Who wants to win the 4th title? Maybe after COVID-19 is over we can all go out and fly paper planes together. Whos in? Comment below with a YES if youre in?

23.01.2022 Hi there. My name is Dan Adler and my boys Nate and Gabe are the organisers of the Up Up Upper Mt Gravatt Paper Plane Championships. We had a board meeting and I have decided to make this year's event the final time we'll be holding a paper plane championships at Upper Mt Gravatt. As a dad who runs a business, I wanted to start something with them, teach them some basic lessons like how to approach companies, shake the hands of the managers and look them in the eye and confid...ently ask them for sponsorship or donations. Naturally, we wanted to have some fun building it up to something we can be proud of. And we've done that. But it does take a lot of effort each year - so we want to finish off with the best of 3 and go out with a bang! This year we have already hit 100 pre-registered competitors, and last year the day of the event we had 125 pre-registered - so we're on track to match last year where we had 175 competitors rock up to test their flying skills. Remember anyone can register on the day and pay their $5 to enter. Alternatively, if you'd like to be organised to keep the registration table flowing smoothly and get flying faster, register here https://upupuppermtgravatt.lpages.co/pre-registration-form/ Thank you to all the families and friends who have been a big help making this event a success. We look forward to seeing you out there flying high and having fun. Better get practicing as you can't bring your pre-folded paper planes in, you must fold the paper supplied on the day to keep the competition fair and equal. Ask Grandad if he has any secret techniques to flying further, I'm sure he does! This will be the last chance to see who is the best pilot in all of Upper Mt Gravatt - are you ready to battle? Bring it on!

23.01.2022 UNDER TWO WEEKS TO GO! Have you pre-registered yet? https://upupuppermtgravatt.lpages.co/pre-registration-form/

20.01.2022 Thought this might inspire some paper folding. Experiment and try something you've never done before. The results might just blow you away! https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php

20.01.2022 This year, we have not 50 (like last 2 years), but 60 gift bags to give away, packed full of goodies. This is all due to our sponsor Susan Pattinson and the team at BIG Business Insurance Group. Thanks guys! We have kept everyones details on file so when you pay on the day you may just get a surprise and be given an extra bonus for being organised and pre-registering early. See you all next Saturday!... PS heres a tip- arrive early to ensure you dont get caught in the long queue at the registration desk.

19.01.2022 Rotary Club of Brisbane are supporting our event. In fact Rotary International are one of the charities competitors who pay their $5 to enter can choose who their money goes to. Did you know Rotary donates the most amount of money raised that any other charity, and 100% of money raised by Rotary Brisbane is passed on to people or organisations in need of help? I recently joined Rotary and are proud of what they stand for and what theyve achieved so far. One of their biggest achievements is the amazing impact theyve had in the fight to eradicate Polio around the world. If youd like to join Rotary and be the next generation of Rotarians helping others in need, contact me or visit BrisbaneRotary.org.au

19.01.2022 We've hit 60 registrations already, 77 days out from the big event... whoa! Time to close off the 50 free gift bags to the first 50 who registered. Well done to those who were organised and got in early. We will be confirming via email if you were in the first 50. Holy smokes this year's event is definitely going to be the best of three.

18.01.2022 Now this is cool!

17.01.2022 This is Peter. Peter won the longest hang-time in 2015 and came back to defend his title in 2016, but sadly was pipped at the gazebo post. We're sure Peter will be back for the best of three! Have you registered yet? Visit this website to register https://upupuppermtgravatt.lpages.co/pre-registration-form/

RSPCA work tirelessly to help creatures great and small, AEIOU do an outstanding job for kids who find it a challenge to share their thoughts, and Rotary International are fighting Polio around the world and supporting other amazing initiatives. Your $5 entry fee, your $2.50 per sausage sizzle, your $1.50 drink and your raffle ticket to win fabulous prizes go towards building up a pool of funds shared between these three charities... so please bring your cash today and be generous to help their cause. 12.01.2022 ALERT ALERT ALERT - CHANGE OF VENUE!!!!!!!!!! Please spread the word. Due to the worsening weather forecast for Sat 14 Oct 2017, we have made the call to change the venue to: The Mansfield State High School Hall Corner of Broadwater Rd and Ham Rd Mansfield. There is loads of street parking, toilets etc.... Here is the google maps link if you need directions. https://www.google.com.au//data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x6b915b5e20697 A huge thank you to Mary and the admin team at Mansfield State High who have moved mountains in the last 24hrs to make this possible. THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Whilst we are disappointed that we have to move, by making the decision today, it gives the competition committee time to change plans regarding logistics and this new plan removes all risk of the event being cancelled due to wet weather. FYI, I will have a person and posters posted up at the AFL oval directing anyone who isn't on Facebook or does get this message. On a positive note, the kids will be fully protected from the sun - AND the paper planes will fly in a controlled air space, so it'll be a true test of a pilot's skill :) Please share this message to anyone you know who is coming and thank you all for your patience and understanding. See you tomorrow from 12pm for a heap of fun.

12.01.2022 Got to be in it to win it! Do you have what it takes to hold the title of being the best paper plane pilot in all of Upper Mt Gravatt? Register online today https://upupuppermtgravatt.lpages.co/pre-registration-form/
