21.01.2022 Topic: Over-treated by any light therapies - Prevention & How to look after yourself when you are over-treated? ///////////////////////////// Prevention:... For any laser or IPL hair removal, over-treated signs of blistering &/or burning will not appear straight after you are hit by the light beam, but few minutes or even few hours after that. This is the reason why patch tests must be performed for different areas at least few days prior to the treatment. So how do you know that you are over-treated? When light beam hitting your skin, you will feel like a hot rubber-band snap, without any lingering pain or heat. Your skin should cool down almost immediately. If it feels extremely hot and is not cooling down you MUST alert your therapist immediately. The heat & pain should go away almost immediately as soon as the pulse stopped & moved away from that treated spot. Any lingering pain or burning sensation can result in blisters and/or burn. /////////////////////////////////// What to do if over-treated by laser, IPL & other light therapy? Ask your therapist to COLD compress you IMMEDIATELY for at least 20 minutes (Be aware that ICE compression can cause freeze burn. Thus, if iced pack is used ensure to keep removing it from the same skin area every few minutes and/or wrapped the iced pack with disposable kitchen paper towel such that it does not have direct contact with the skin.) To minimise scaring, skin must be kept moist. 08.01.2022 Laser/IPL vs Electrolysis for hair removal? Which Method? The fact that laser & IPL retard hair growth & it is semi-permanent hair removal,... Based on my experience:... After I had my hair in certain areas removed by both laser & IPL (I also had got epidermal burn once from IPL hair removal & I had got hypopigmentation in that area or 5 years) some hair will regrow after 3-5 yrs; some hair has been permanently removed. I also have had all of every single hair permanently removed from my underarms, knees and lower legs via Electrolysis during 1998-1999 and since then not even a single hair came back. How much hair regrow & how long for hair to regrow after laser/IPL hair removal? This varies among individuals and varies among different body areas. What I can conclude by this? => I warn consumers if they want to get a fast result/look they may choose to start with laser hair removal for first 4-6 sessions then finish it with electrolysis => BUT Big BUT => they may get hair free for some yrs & they may be hair regrow yrs after that & they may need to resume it with electrolysis. BUT if they want all hair gone & clear (every single hair gone forever) they must do electrolysis only => but it can take some time btw over a yr to a few yrs depending on their commitment & the amount of their hair. If you want to have only hair reduction, especially underarms, pubic area & lower legs, laser hair removal can provide you that. She wants to find other organic and safe sunscreen, alternative to zinc oxide which leaves shiny, white color on her skin & she doesn't like the look of it when apply. From my understanding, anything shiny & white color, such as zinc, must be used to reflect the light (including UV). Other COLORS will partially or completely absorb some UV rays. Other contents in the sunscreen are just market...ing or to necessarily make the shiny-white-color particles, such zinc, stick to our skin. Light property, such as reflection and absorption, is SOLELY based on color. Other things just marketing contents to make the subject more complicated.
