24.01.2022 WE'RE BACK, BABY UQ Boxing is excited to announce that we will be returning to training from Tuesday 21st July 2020! Initially, we will return with a special two-week interim timetable. We will continue to train on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays however, the start and end times will be slightly shifted. We will be posting the timetable this Friday once UQ Sport has confirmed the time slots.... No sign on required during Stage 3 restrictions, just turn up. All 10-trip passes still valid. Semester 1 2020 Passes, will remain valid until the end of 2020, please bring your Semester 1 2020 Pass Card as proof of purchase. Please keep in mind that things may be a little different to usual, as the club adjusts to the new guidelines and restrictions mandated by the Queensland Government and UQ (including UQ Sport). We understand that in these uncertain times, your mental health can take a hit so we encourage you to seek help from Student Advisers or Counselling, either in person or via Skype. 22.01.2022 Welcome back! Today is our first session back, remember we start at 5pm, an hour earlier than usual! Don't forget to bring your 10-Trip Pass or Semester 1 2020 Pass. Yes, we will be accpeting new members, just show up at the Martial Arts Gym (MAG). The MAG is in the UQ Fitness Centre (Building 25), and if you walk past reception towards the bathrooms, walk all the way to the top of the stairs to find us. ... 20.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT - UQ Boxing x UQ SRC Next Tuesday 15th we are holding a cross-over event with the UQ Social Running Club (SRC). We'll be doing interval training with them, and they'll join us for boxing. It's a great opportunity to join another club as well as improve your cardio during longer-distance running and explosiveness during Interval training to help you become a better boxer whether you're running for general fitness, learning to spar or training for competi...tion 5 pm - Meet at Eric Freeman Boatshed on campus (near the Netball Courts and Athletics Stadium) for Interval Training. Bring your running shoes. 6 pm - Transition to Martial Arts Gym (in the UQ Fitness Centre, Bldg 25) for Boxing. BYO waterbottle, all other equipment is provided. 7:30pm - End of cross-over event. We encourage our members to sign up to the UQ SRC, if you sign up prior to the session you will qualify for $5 off your next 10-trip, casual pass, or any other merchandise. SRC members will receive $5 off their first session for attending both halves of the event.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is where we discuss the year that has passed, any changes we want to implement going forward and vote in next year’s executive committee. As the UQ Fitness Centre has reduced operating hours, you will note the start and end times of our sessions have changed. We will be having Thursday UQ Boxing sessions outdoors, during this two-week period, due to booking clashes within the MAG. The meeting point will be the netball cou...rts, next to the Rugby/Athletics Stadium (Playing Field 7) and next to carparks P8 and P9. We are currently working with UQ Sport regarding our session times for Semester 2, and we will update you as soon as we know. Thank you everyone for co-operating with us as we get used to all the changes due to COVID-19. Everyone did an excellent job and we know moving forward these processes will just become a part of our routine. Yesterday we also announced the launch of our paperless membership sign ons. 09.01.2022 We are getting ready to return to boxing! Date of our first session back to be announced end of this week. During Stage 2 (12th June - 10th July), we will be asking members to sign up to sessions online to keep our numbers capped at 20 as per QLD Gov guidelines. We will confirm your attendance 24 hours before the session. More details to come later this week. You will also need to pack a water bottle, and we recommend a towel (for sweat). Changerooms won't be available ...so be dressed ready to train. Gloves won't be required during Stage 2 as the AIS have not recommended the use of boxing bags or mitts/pads until Stage 3 (10th July) and the QLD Gov guidelines do not allow contact or paired work. Hence, during Stage 2 we will be running bootcamp-style sessions to help get you back in shape for Stage 3. If you present to a session displaying symptoms, we will ask you to return home. Similarly, if you have been in contact with a confirmed COVID case, are COVID-19 positive, or travelled from interstate or overseas within the past 14 days, we ask you refrain from attending until the 14 days has passed. This is for the health and wellbeing of all our members, we look forward to seeing you again after the 14 days. If you have pre-existing medical conditions (related to COVID-19) or belong in an at-risk category, we ask you seek the advice of your GP or other certified medical practitioner prior to returning. Obviously, there will be changes to our regular sessions, we hope to get through all the bumps in the road with your help! There will be more information posted in the following days and weeks.
