25.01.2022 A new study https://go.nature.com/2QFRln5 co-authored by #UQPharmacys Dr Sam Hollingworth states that "the significant increase in opioid prescribing highlights that Australian dentists may be contributing to the misuse of pharmaceutical opioids". UQs Associate Professor Chris Freeman spoke to 9 News about the issue, in his role as National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to UQ School of Pharmacys Dr Meng-Wong Taing who was awarded best publication in Medication Use, Safety and Health Services Research. Dr Taings research evaluates the role of community pharmacy staff in the early detection and prevention of oral cancer. Through simulated mouth ulcer consultations, the study identifies the need for increased oral cancer awareness and education for community pharmacy staff. Elongated chains on proteoglycans retain lipids to form plaques within the vessel wall. 14.01.2022 In response to COVID-19, the federal government increased Medicare-funded telehealth services, including making telephone consultations available for the first time. They removed geographical constraints and increased the range of telehealth services available. Dr Centaine Snoswell, Affiliate Research Fellow and alumnus from the UQ School of Pharmacy, is part of a research team tracking the increased uptake of Medicare-funded telehealth during COVID-19.
