25.01.2022 NO UQ SOCIAL TENNIS UNTIL NEW YEAR There will be no Social Tennis at the UQ Tennis Club on 17 December (Thursday), 20 December (Sunday), 24 December (Thursday), 27 December (Sunday), 31 December (Thursday) and 3 January (Sunday). This is because all the hardcourts at the UQ Tennis Centre are currently out of action because of the court reconstruction work.... There was an outside chance of enough courts being completed for Social Tennis on 20 December but the work is now way behind schedule because of all the rain. At this stage, the Club hopes to resume Social Tennis on Thursday, 7 January, but this is still to be confirmed. As usual, everybody will be kept informed about what is happening once there is any definite news. Please keep checking your emails, Facebook feeds and the Club website. Although rebuilding all the hardcourts is causing some short-term inconvenience, UQ Tennis players will end up with a new Tennis facility. The 2 synthetic grass courts have re-opened, so there is some Tennis available at UQ until the Tennis Centre closes for the Christmas - New Year break.

24.01.2022 SINGLES FIXTURES FINALS The UQ Tennis Club’s October Night Singles Fixtures finished tonight (26 October). 24 players competed in the competition which was played over three consecutive Monday nights (12, 19 & 26 October). ... The results for the Finals were: Group 1 - Erkin Duran d Paul Hyde Group 2 - Max Alvarez Contreras d Aaron How Group 3 - Marco Sulzbacher d Alan Loi Group 4 - Lachlan Maddock d Federico Davalos Players were divided into 4 groups of 6 by standard. Everybody played 2 matches each night for a total of 6 matches (5 round-robin matches followed by 1 play-off match). The UQ Tennis Club's next seasons of Singles Fixtures will be a daytime competition on 2 Sundays (8 & 15 November) and a night-time competition on 3 Mondays (16, 23 & 30 November). 20.01.2022 TUESDAY FIXTURE FINALS After being washed out last week, the Finals of the UQ Tennis Club's Tuesday Teams Fixtures were played tonight (3 October). The results for the Finals were:... A1 Grade - UQ Good Hugs (Sam Bailey & James Walker) defeated UQ Sharks (Tom Ladbrook & Darius Tng) A2 Grade - UQ Girl Scout Cookies (Lucas Hughes & Jevin Lin) defeated UQ T-Rex (James Le Lievre & Mark Viney) B Grade - UQ Shiny Rocc (Henry Harvey & Cooper Jeffery) defeated UQ Lobsters (Shehan Fernando & Connor Wadsworth) the UQ Tennis Club's last competition for the year will be a Monday Night Singles Fixtures which will be played on 16, 23 & 30 November. This is because all of the hardcourts at the UQ Tennis Centre are being rebuilt. Construction is well under way but 15 courts are currently out of action. This does not leave enough courts to run Social Tennis.... At this stage it is not possible to determine if enough courts will be available by Thursday, 10 December for Social Tennis to resume, but it looks to be unlikely. Regular players will be kept informed about what is happening by email, Facebook posts and the club's website once some definite dates are known. Although rebuilding all the hardcourts is causing some short-term inconvenience, the club will end up having access to a new Tennis facility.

19.01.2022 TENNIS COMPETITIONS We've survived 2020. Let's make 2021 a great year for Tennis at the UQ Tennis Club. Competition Tennis kicks off with the Summer Team Fixtures on Tuesday nights (7 week competition, 12 January to 2 March) and the January Singles Fixtures on 2 Monday nights (11 & 18 January).... 12.01.2022 The UQ Tennis Club's Fixture Finals & Play-offs scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, 27 October) have been cancelled because of the weather.

07.01.2022 NOVEMBER DAYTIME SINGLES FIXTURES The UQ Tennis Club's November Daytime Singles Fixtures finished today, 15 November. The competition was played over two consecutive Sundays (8 & 15... November) using two sessions (9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.). The results for the Finals, were: Group 1 - Kensuke Ogita d Kaz Ueda Group 2 - Ting Wang d Adam Balogh Players were divided into 2 groups of 6 by standard. Everybody played 3 matches (first-to-6-games set) each day for a total of 6 matches (5 round-robin matches followed by 1 play-off match). Players swapped sessions on the second day.

07.01.2022 NO UQ SOCIAL TENNIS ON 7 JANUARY There will be no Social Tennis at the UQ Tennis Club this Thursday, 7 January, because of the court reconstruction work. Enough courts to start some programs are tantalizingly close to being ready but not quite yet.... 12 of the 19 hardcourts are surfaced and lined but net posts have to be installed, the fences have to be re-erected and there has to be ready access to those courts. At this stage it is not possible to determine if enough courts will be available and readily accessible by Sunday, 10 January, for Social Tennis to resume then. 01.01.2022 SPRING MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT Despite a few drops of rain late in the night, the UQ Tennis Club's Spring Mixed Doubles Tournament was played tonight (Saturday, 7 November). This was third time lucky as the tournament was washed out on 24 October and again on 31 October.... The level winners were Steffi Van Den Bergh & Anthony Truong (C Grade), Melissa Sidara & Rui Nakatani (B Grade), Christeen Dair & Rob Dair (A Grade) and Nicole Steemson & Ethan Gunn (Open). The winners in the Lucky Prize Draw were Dimity Thoms, Cathy Wilson and Alison Sun. This was the last event in the UQ Tennis Club's 2020 Tournament Program.
