25.01.2022 MAJOR EASING OF COVID RESTRICTIONS Great news - even more COVID-19 restrictions will be eased on Monday! I’m delighted to see the 2 square metre rule ...will be expanded and venue caps will be completely removed. This change is something I’ve been pushing for and it’s wonderful timing with Christmas fast approaching. Here's what's changing from Monday (7 December): The 4 square metre rule will become the 2 square metre rule for outdoors and indoors at all venues including pubs, clubs, places of worship, stadiums and theatres There will be no upper cap on numbers of people - this includes for weddings, funerals and corporate events The 4sqm rule remains in place for nightclubs and gyms - a maximum of 50 people can attend a gym class Standing outdoors will be allowed at hospitality venues (but not indoors) Up to 5,000 people can attend an outdoor ticketed event (with the 2sqm rule applied) You can now have up to 100 people at an outdoor gathering (up from 50) Up to 50 people can be on the dance floor indoors Up to 50 performers can be singing indoors, there is no cap for outdoors - the advice remains that the congregation/audience should wear masks if they are singing These changes will be a huge boost to our churches, hospitality venues, arts and cultural centres and our own homes as we head in to the festive season. I want to congratulate everyone for doing their part. Remember to get tested if you have symptoms, keep practising good hand hygiene and look out for one another. For more information about the changes, visit www.nsw.gov.au/Covid-19

22.01.2022 October Meeting at the Bowlo Thurs 1 Oct 5.30pm!

21.01.2022 Developers, we encourage you to come along to this breakfast meeting with Council. You will need to register by 10am on Monday.

21.01.2022 Thank you Adam Marshall, and to our tireless team for working on this issue!

19.01.2022 Don't forget - the Main Street CBD and Hill Street in Uralla are open this Saturday 4pm - 8pm with Santa coming at 6pm! Since we didn't have any Carols in the Park this year, if any little groups of kids want to go around singing Christmas Carols, that would be most welcome - say groups of 3 or 4, wandering up and down the street singing, wouldn't that be lovely! :) If you are a business that doesn't have a shopfront in the Main Street or Hill Street, and you wish to join in the fun, contact one of the shops and check if you can pop a table out the front of their store - they are more than happy to have you there - the more the merrier! We are looking forward to it, no matter what the weather - come along and join in the fun! #urallachristmasevent2020

17.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came to our AGM and monthly meeting. There was a great turnout and some good debate and ideas came up. We have a new committee for 20/21, please welcome: John Buckingham as Vice President Bob Crouch as Secretary Macka (Iain Mackintosh) as Treasurer... Wayne Howard, Michael Batt, and Matt Campbell as committee members and we have one casual vacancy on the committee. Thank you to the team for the past year in this, a difficult time, and I am looking forward to the coming year with input from our new committee members and members of the Chamber, bringing new ideas and strengths to our Chamber - I am excited to see what the year brings for us all. Thank you also to all the members who contributed over the past year. You all have been a terrific support and without you all the Chamber wouldn't have achieved what it has to date. 16.01.2022 Uralla Public Spaces Legacy Program "Dear All It has been some time, since the public meeting at Michael’s Café, when the 40 KPH pedestrian zone and the Consultant’s proposal to make significant changes to the Central Business Zone was discussed and opinions sought about the changes to the CBD streetscape and blisters. There has not been any apparent need up until now. As far as the Uralla Shire Council staff are concerned, it appears, the proposal has not gone away. Counc...il has a grant opportunity of $2 million under the above Public Spaces Legacy Program - NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program - Accelerated Assessment Program The staff are proposing that some of the funds be spent on the Uralla main street upgrade, including Pioneer Park and connectivity of that to the main street precinct in other words finding funding for the opposed blister realignment. So tomorrow night the Council’s General Manager, Kate [J]essep, will workshop with U.T.E.C. (Uralla Township and Environs Committee) on public spaces design principles with the purpose of obtaining from U.T.E.C. assistance in preparing the design brief for the engagement of a designer (through a competitive procurement process) who will prepare the concept design with input from the community prior to the detailed design phase. This workshop will commence at 6.00pm sharp on Monday 12 April (tomorrow). Meetings of U.T.E.C. are open to the public: Clause 9.4 of the U.T.E.C. Constitution states: 9.4 Every Committee meeting is a public meeting and members of the public may attend. As such, it should be held in a public space. Members of the public who attend cannot participate unless invited to do so by the Chair. No amount of statements that changes to the layout of the main street, while improvements are required, appears to be accepted by the senior management of Council so a turnup at tomorrow’s U.T.E.C. meeting [at Council Chambers], particularly the workshop portion of the proceedings, is needed to ensure the Community’s opposition to the consultant’s design for the 40 KPH pedestrian zone and the resultant removal and re-siting of the blisters is conveyed to the new General Manager. So if you can, at this very short notice, attend tomorrow [Monday] evening your presence may influence the outcome and forever remove the threat of major changes to the mainstreet. Regards Tom O’Connor"

14.01.2022 W E W A N T Y O U R I N P U T ! We are setting up space on our website for people thinking about running for council in September to answer questions that the business community, and our public, want to know about them. In order to do this, we need your questions!... Please send us your list of questions for any councillor that we will then form into a template and invite all prospective candidates to answer. This is in order for us all to get to know the people who are running for councillor or mayor, and so we can all have a better opportunity to vote the people in that we want to represent us on council. Please email your questions to [email protected]. If you could do this in the next week that would be awesome, thank you! Please invite other members of the community to do so too, so we can get as broad a set of questions as possible.

07.01.2022 **REPORT HAS NOW BEEN CORRECTED AS OF 0908 14 NOV - PLEASE REVIEW IF YOU HAD PREVIOUSLY VIEWED IT ** On 29th October 2020 Uralla Shire Business Chamber (USBC) held a public meeting to provide Uralla Shire Council the opportunity to brief Uralla Community on the regulations relating to trading from home, and provide an opportunity for businesses to provide feedback to Council on how we could improve business/council relationships. Thirteen speakers addressed the meeting on a w...ide range of topics including home -based businesses, delays in Development Applications, on-going requests for information, consistency in decision making, and the reputational risk to Council Actions and decisions. The Uralla Shire Business Chamber sincerely appreciates the efforts made by all our speakers and those who took the time to provide submissions to this meeting. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and publicly talk about personal experiences without letting emotion get in the way of the facts. Thank you. Twelve key points were developed from the presentations and have been presented along with suggested solutions. As a result of this meeting the Uralla Shire Business Chamber proposes to work with council and report back to our community on progress with addressing the issues raise. The USBC is looking forward to rapid and demonstrable progress. Today we are releasing the Report from the Public Meeting held on the 29th of October. Please go to our website to view it: https://urallabusinesschamber.org.au//report-on-public-me/ Thank you to everyone involved for their contributions and to the mammoth amount work put in by our secretary, Bob, in putting the report together.
