24.01.2022 This is a blast from the past!! The most elating and stressful 10 days. Thanks to the Currie’s for their help.

23.01.2022 3 sets of twins and a spare. All doing great. The cows should have no problems getting back in calf.

22.01.2022 These are the sires we've used in our mating program for the January 2019 calving. Boulevard Leadhilite AI, Superior Muscles AI, Biriwa Grenade AI, Uranongo Heist,... Uranongo Mafu and Amaroo Husus. It'll be an interesting comparison. See more

21.01.2022 Our young bulls, Nero (sired by Renard Big Business), Nitro (sired by Renard S. Victor), Dani and Pioneer (sired by Weeronga Horacio) and finally Amaroo Husus.

18.01.2022 We are pleased with how this old boy (Amaroo Husus) has filled out with what has been a miserable year for feed.

16.01.2022 Uranongo Minx and Uranongo Keepsake with their big babies. #blondedaquitaine #cattle #cattleranch #bullsforsale #livestock #agriculture #business #rural #cow #livestock #bull #calf #southernforests #farmlife #meat #beefcattle #thankafarmer #bullsales #farm #grassfedbeef #uranongo_blondes

15.01.2022 Uranongo Heist and Uranongo Graphic both Whitefield Leader sons

15.01.2022 So Graeme is out checking the Forrest oat crop and finds that he’s lost the bike!! Usually ryegrass grows better but due to our rainfall we settled for oats, one gamble that has paid off.

15.01.2022 Nothing better than seeing happy cows. Even the old cows are having a bucking good time

12.01.2022 This a good video explaining how to use EBVs posted by the MLA. We use EBV’s extensively along with visual appraisal. We have found that EBV's are more reliable when we have calves from more than 1 sire born within 45 days or 2 cycles of each other. For example, we use AI sires (from other breeders) and then our herd sires. We keep the calves as 1 group as they are ONLY compared to others in their group. ... If we need to split the herd, we separate the male and female calves as they won't be compared to each other anyway. For example, we had 3 contemporary groups this year for our 200 day weights. 1- The main group. 2- One calf was put in his own contemporary group because his dam was crook therefore he was fed differently. 3- Another calf was mothered by 2 cows, (one of the cows lost her calf at the same time he was born and she decided to claim him) therefore he also was fed differently. It doesn’t matter how much feed or what type of feed the calves get as long as the contemporary group is kept together, fed this same diet and have the same treatments at the same time. To find out where our cattle stand in comparison to other herds we use AI sires from other studs or bring in cattle from another herd. For our stud to make the most of EBV's, we "crosslink" to other studs by using sires they have used, so their sire's calves can be compared directly to our bull’s calves under the same conditions. We work on having a 9 week calving period. Our cows are AI’d on the first cycle and 12 days later, we split the herd for each of our stud sires for the next heat cycle. The last cycle, (is just mop-up) we run the cows with 1 bull. This ensures we have a wide range of genetics born within the first seven weeks of calving, to compare against each other. This tight calving period is great for increasing our herd fertility and is in line with commercial practice. We find that the EBV’s are a valuable tool to estimate an animals attributes, if data is gathered correctly.

11.01.2022 Due to the huge loss of Amaroo Husus to snakebite, we have brought Corolin Presidential (P) to join our breeding program. Sired by Dusty Acre Brass (HP) and out of Corolin Damaris. For EBV’s and pedigree click on the link. http://abri.une.edu.au/online/cgi-bin/i4.dll

08.01.2022 We'll be adding a Passo son, Meridan Lawrence, to our AI program this year, thanks to Luke Aisthorpe of Monal Blondes.

05.01.2022 We’ve had a big couple of weeks. With programming AI, Donors and ET recipients, seeding and mixing feed for 90 head every day, we haven’t had much spare time. At least we are doing what we love. Of the 45 cows/heifers synchronised, 40 cycled, they either got an embryo or were artificially inseminated to one of the six AI Sires we chose to use this year. Now we play the waiting game to see what the results will be.

03.01.2022 I've finally got the camera out this morning. The cattle have come through a rough winter quite well. Hopefully this season will be kinder as we haven't been able to cut as much hay as we would have liked. Sires that are represented in the calf photos are Uranongo Heist, Uranongo Mafu, (both registered AI sires and semen is available) Boulevard Leadhillite, Biriwa Grenade (P), Superior Muscles and Amaroo Husus.

02.01.2022 Uranongo Rhythm, by Meridan Lawrence and out of Uranongo Harmoni. #blondedaquitaine #cattle #cattleranch #bullsforsale #livestock #agriculture #business #rural #cow #livestock #bull #calf #southernforests #farmlife #meat #beefcattle #thankafarmer #bullsales #farm #grassfedbeef #uranongo_blondes #whenkiloscount #musclewhereitmatters

01.01.2022 We got a total of 13 embryos out of two donors. We are so pleased with the temperament of the donors. The video was taken of the girls on their last day of needles. We wouldn’t have blamed them if they got at least a little bit cranky but they took it all in their stride. Bella and Jillian were chosen for their fertility, temperament and structure. Both have average to below breed average birthweight, high growth, milk and fat cover.
