23.01.2022 Our thoughts are with everyone during the coronavirus pandemic. Take care, stay at home & stay well! Urban Lyrebirds is creating some Sing with me at home videos for students who will be studying at home next term. See attached a video for beginners. We will also upload it onto our YouTube channel and other social media sites, to make it easier for students to watch it at home. Feel free to share it with students and teachers. We are planning to create more videos that wi...ll be suitable for intermediate and advanced students. Please send us feedback to let us know if your students are enjoying using them. If they are, we will produce some more to help us all get through 2020 together!

Good afternoon everyone, I am pleased to share my brand new website, The Language Scene: www.thelanguagescene.com.au where you will find details of professional learning sessions on teaching language classes through drama (suitable for EAL and LOTE teachers from across all sectors).... 10.01.2022 Exciting news! A new publication from Urban Lyrebirds. May Street Stories by Carmel Davies A vibrant series of six post beginner readers for EAL, Elicos and Literacy students. ... The May Street apartments are home to teenagers and refugees, international students and retirees. The varied characters live in a block of flats in May Street and their lives intersect in six engaging stories. Real life situations of residents, neighbours and families. Each story has language comprehension exercises and an audio version easily accessible on this website. Read and listen to May Street Stories! The readers are being distributed by Bookery. 06.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we write to let you know that Maggie Power, our dear friend, colleague and co-founder of Urban Lyrebirds passed away last month. Maggie was a founding teacher in the Youth and pre-literate Programs and at Collingwood AMES. She was a central member of the Collingwood team that started research into pre-literacy learners and developed a whole new approach that changed the way we all taughtfor the better.
