19.01.2022 Reaching out, spreading their gills and releasing their spores into the natural environment. This is 3 days of footage compressed into 7 seconds of video and it’s truely memorising to watch them reach out and gain so much biomass! They do this by filling up their cells with water to expand at incredible rates. I’m getting more and more interest around mushrooms from so many people. 10.01.2022 Fungi are at the end of the decomposition stage and also at the beginning of new ones! There is a research based around a technology that uses fungi called Mycoremediation. All over the world we have have started to open our eyes to mushrooms and their amazing power to break things down! They have individual suites of enzymes and acids that allow fungi to become specialized for the digestion of almost any organic substance you can think of. There are fungi specializing in th...e digestion of fingernails, crude petrolium, dead insects, marine driftwood and all other pieces of the living world (anything that is hydrocarbon based). There is no doubt in my mind that fungi are the life spring of the natural ecosystem that control the nutrient flow and hence are the primary governors of ecological equilibrium. In our urban environments we have gone so far away from the natural flow of nature and in many ways disturbed the hierarchy of natural systems from cleaning our mess.
