20.01.2022 This photo of Leesh and our happy members in the gym was taken back in July. It seems so long ago!? It was so great to hear Dan Andrews announcement today that gyms in Metro Melbourne have a re-open date of Monday, 9th November (with restrictions in place). We’re working through all the finer details, any information from the government that comes to light, and working hard to ensure everything is covid safe and we are ready to open our doors again. ... We will continue to keep you all updated so stay tuned. Well done to everyone for sticking it out! 20.01.2022 This morning I moved by doing - (In my lounge room) 300x Russian Kettlebell swings (12kgs) (EMOM -every minute on the minute), perform Burpee(s). Start with 1 Burpee after minute 1, then 2 Burpees after minute 2, then 3 Burpees, ect.... (Outdoors) 2.5km run around my neighbourhood. Finished up with a nice, iced cold oat milk espresso from the cafe near my house. HOW ARE YOU MOVING TODAY?!

10.01.2022 When it comes to training there is so much information and knowledge portrayed through social media platforms, it makes it really easy to become overwhelmed and confused. Here are some common mistakes/misunderstandings when it comes to training. TOO MUCH VOLUME Appropriately implementing temporary decreases in training volume, will allow for sufficient recovery and decrease the potential risk of over training. ... NOT PRIORITISING REST DAYS Recovery is an essential aspect to training and is important for performance enhancement. Prioritise rest days. NOT ALLOWING SUFFICIENT REST PERIODS Sufficient rest periods between sets are a crucial aspect in a training program. Adequate rest allows our systems to regenerate, allowing us to maintain more of our performance from set to set. RANDOM TRAINING/NO STRUCTURE Whilst random training can be seen as fun and exciting, it has no direct focus on important methods such as progressive overload. 10.01.2022 Hey legends, we know that the government restrictions are starting to loosen a bit and have a little bit of information around re-opening etc. but once we have everything set in stone then we will definitely (as usual) keep you up to date. We know there is some information going around saying Monday, 26th October could possibly be a re-opening date for Victorian gyms (following low reported cases), however, no-one is sure what that looks like with so many weeks still to go u...ntil this date. We will DEFINITELY be hoping for low cases and a confirmed date for Urban to re-open but at THIS stage, we need to keep isolating and following the rules. We are sooo looking forward to being back in the gym and seeing all of our lovely members, until then keep an eye out from us for confirmation on a re-opening date and update from us directly. 07.01.2022 It’s about to come up to the 1 year anniversary since I ran the full (42km) Melbourne Marathon! Since being in lockdown, like everyone, I haven’t been able to train my normal Powerlifting program with the luxury of the weights area at the gym. But it’s given me the ability to improvise and that’s something to feel extremely positive about. I’ve been doing CrossFit style functional workouts in my lounge room and I’ve also re-kindled my love of running outdoors again. This mo...rning I ran 10km along St Kilda beach and it FELT GOOD both physically and mentally! In what ways have you improvised and are you loving the new workouts at home/outdoors?

06.01.2022 I DID IT GUYS!!! I completed 137 step-ups a day for 7 days (959 step-ups in total) to spread awareness, raise money and support women going through domestic violence. These 137 step-ups represent the 137 women that are killed every day by gender-based violence. Thank you to the lovely members who donated Appreciate you. We raised $220 that goes towards supporting ActionAid to provide services and create safe spaces where women can access legal advice, counselling and vocational training to become financially independent.

I’m stepping up to end violence against women, for good. 137 women are killed every day by their partner or a family member - that’s 1 woman every 10 seconds. From the 19th - 25th November I will be partaking in the ‘Strong women challenge’ and will be doing 137 step-up’s a day for a week.... Resistance/Weights Training What’s your favourite exercise and why? I have two favourite exercises. The hip thrust & lunges. I love these two exercises because they have great variations to further progress the lifts. What is your least favourite exercise? I wouldn’t say it’s my least favourite exercise because it is a great movement with many associated benefits- however, I have a love hate relationship with Bulgarian Split Lunges Who do you admire and look up to in the fitness scene and why? I admire Coach Mark Carroll. I admire his knowledge and his view point towards training and lifestyle changes. I also admire him succeeding everyday against mental illnesses and struggles he openly faces. What do you do for your own personal self-development when it comes to your overall health/fitness/mindset? For my own personal development I invest in worthy courses, read articles & listen to podcasts. I am forever wanting to constantly learn and grow in overall health, my career, fitness and my mental mindset. Gratitude checks I find beneficial for helping my mindset. One piece of advice you would give your clients? One piece of advice I would give to my clients is to invest in themselves and their knowledge regarding training and nutrition.

02.01.2022 There’s no doubt about it. 2020 has been a rough year for us Victorians. Lockdown alone was hard but Lockdown 2.0 is a whole other level and very isolating. One thing I know for sure is this: We have some pretty resilient members who don’t let a global pandemic stop them from achieving their health and fitness goals. Talk about INSPIRING! This photo is from one of our members, Georgia. Georgia was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease this year a condition where the immune syste...m attacks the thyroid. Symptoms include fatigue and unexplained weight gain. Georgia gained 15kgs within a 3 month period and made it a goal to lose that weight this year (You go, girl, woo!) So far, Georgia has already lost 9kgs!! I asked her how she did it and this is what she said: Hitting my steps for sure - I did a 10,000 steps a day challenge in August and consistently trying to get my body moving everyday, if it’s a slow walk or a brisk walk or HIIT workout at home. Low key, a big motivator is continually closing all the rings on my Apple watch because I’m on an 80 day streak. But during lockdown, daily walks have been a game changer for my mental health and weight loss Keep up the amazing work, Georgia! Can’t wait to celebrate YOU when we’re back in the gym again. 01.01.2022 GREAT NEWS! Christmas came early at Urban this year. WE ARE NOW OPERATING 24/7 and back to normal staffed times until Christmas hours apply.... Members are still required to swipe their member access tags, sign the covid tracing register on entry, social distance, bring a sweat towel and wipe down equipment with disinfectant after use (located around the club). Thank you SO much for your assistance with everything whilst we’ve navigated our way through this year You guys are amazing!
