23.01.2022 Msoura coffee table. - Made from @ecooutdoor Moroccan limestone, contained within a thick edge strip of brass and sitting on a turned base of highly patterned White Cedar. It has the cutest little bevel on the top edge which softens the look. It’s elliptical shape is based on the Msoura Circle, a large megalithic structure in northern Morocco, similar to Stonehenge. 13.01.2022 The soft light filtering through the house this morning showing the beauty in this patterned lino flooring. - EXCEPT THIS LINO WILL POTENTIALLY KILL YOU - I’ve been routinely getting samples from the house tested for asbestos from a local laboratory and last week had this one tested after realising we needed to remove it to paint some trims.... The test came back positive so we’ll now call in our friends from Rapid Asbestos to safely remove it and any traces. - Just a vital warning to anyone out there renovating a home built between 1945 and 1990 - almost certainly there will be asbestos present so take absolutely no chances with this deadly fibre. 08.01.2022 Velvære A Danish word for wellbeing. We live in a world full of noise that leaves us with limited moments for true reflection. Our space at the 2019 Perth Garden Festival @perthgardenfestival acted as an antidote that allowed people the opportunity to depart the ‘outside chatter’ and enter a place of limited stimulus where they could relax, recharge and feel inspired.... Often in life, our happiness can be found through a process of simplifying that is, saying goodbye to unnecessary things, unhelpful people and unrewarding habits. This is why we chose to restrict the planting palette and use materials that are lively and organic. Our space was also designed to allow close human connection we’ve arrived at a time in life where we’re both more connected (through the internet) and less connected simultaneously. We encouraged people to say hi to those they met within the wellbeing sanctuary. 06.01.2022 Next year myself, Benn from @roathst and Patrick from @finespun_architecture have decided to tackle the Cape to Cape track end to end. For those not aware of this amazing trail, it stretches around 130km from Cape Naturaliste lighthouse to Cape Leeuwin lighthouse in the far southwest corner of Western Australia. - Everything we require in way of food, water and shelter will be carried on our backs. - To familiarise ourselves with the task of packing, unpacking, repacking and... to test some equipment, Benn and I headed out for a practice run on the Bibbulmun track recently, overnighting at Helena campsite near Mundaring. This hike clearly showed me the consequences of my chaotic packing methodology (well, actually, as you can imagine there was no methodology, moreso just stuffing things in) - It was definitely an amazing feeling to arrive, setup camp, chill out on the rocks overlooking the valley, cook up some dinner then relax in by the fire and watch the stars come out. 02.01.2022 Rainy Sunday morning spent diving deep into the goodness that is @greenmagazine featuring the incredible @joostbakker who has created an off grid home on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne. This home contains a huge array of clever ideas which allow the growing of all food and production of zero waste @futurefoodsystem .
