25.01.2022 Urban Life loves The Babes Project, and they need our help! The Babes Project recognises that every woman needs support, knowledge and an understanding ally to thrive in her motherhood. The Babes Project empowers new mamas to face the fears, tears and challenges, through pregnancy and the first crucial year of baby’s life. https://www.thebabesproject.com.au... If anyone is free to help them with some painting at their Croydon Admin Hub Tuesday or Wednesday next week it would be greatly appreciated. Details: The address is 9/428 Mt. Dandenong Rd, Kilsyth (opposite the shop front) on following days: Tuesday 1-4pm, Wednesday 9-11am and 1-4pm (and possibly Wednesday evening if needed) If you are available, please contact Helen Parker on 0417 305 584. Come on friends of L, let’s really get around The Babes!

14.01.2022 This Sunday the 24th of January we are accepting @commongraceaus 's invitation to reclaim Aboriginal Christian leader William Cooper’s original call to the Australian churches, back in 1938, to mark Aboriginal Sunday on the Sunday prior to January 26th as a day of solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian brothers and sisters from around these lands now called Australia. In solidarity we acknowledge the injustices Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander p...eoples have and continue to face. We join in the practice of truth telling, mourning and praying together to see change in the heart and hearts of this country. On Sunday we'll engage with Common Grace provided resources, hear from Aboriginal Christian leaders, participate in some truth telling, praying and reading scripture together while seeking God's heart for these lands and the original custodians of them. We'll also share some other Common Grace resources and events that invite us to listen, learn, pray and reflect on how we might be called to walk in solidarity and friendship seeking justice and reconciliation, alongside the First Nations People, of these lands now called Australia.

13.01.2022 We are asking for donations for our Christmas Hampers. We will need: Drinks, lollies, long-life milk, toiletries, baked goods, gift boxes (empty), gifts for children, sparkling apple juice, Christmas pudding,... crackers Please contact Jay Sawyer on 0419 543 153 or message this page if you have any questions and to organise delivering donations to Urban Life - 143 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood before the 14th December. Thank you for your generosity during this Christmas season.

10.01.2022 Today is Mabo Day - the day in 1992 when the Mabo No.2 case was handed down in the High Court of Australia and the day that effectively overturned the lie of Te...rra Nullius. We acknowledge the work of Uncle Eddie Koiki Mabo whom the day is named after. Gail Mabo, Eddie Mabo’s daughter, said, It was a shock when he won because most people didn’t think we would win. It was unheard of for a single person to change the whole history of a nation and for Dad to do that it was an awakening call to Australia to say ‘it’s time to right a wrong’ and embrace Indigenous people. These words remind us that it’s time to right many of the other wrongs and injustices still facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. May we, all peoples of all cultures in these lands now called Australia, continue to take action for justice, Treaty and Truth Telling for Healing Country. #MaboDay #HealingCountry #TreatyNow #TruthTelling #NRW2021

10.01.2022 I (Scott Hawkins) am currently undertaking some studies in Community Wellbeing for Maroondah in conjunction with The Wellbeing Lab and Maroondah City Council. This is a voluntary survey for anyone who lives/works/plays/worships in Maroondah, where you can get the wellbeing results for yourself, and we will receive an anonymous version with all personal identification removed. It uses a PERMAH Wellbeing framework which stands for Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, ...Meaning, Accomplishments and Health. If you have any regular(ish) connection with Maroondah, I would love to invite you to undertake this brief survey. I would also be very happy to debrief it with you (over coffee?) if you thought that would be helpful. https://community.permahsurvey.com/workplace.php

06.01.2022 Congratulations Dylan Langley! We are proud to have you as one of our employees, but much more proud to call you friend!

04.01.2022 A lovely day in the backyard!

03.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, a day marked to remember the Stolen Generations. Sorry is an important ongoing step on our nation’s healing journey. As followers... of Jesus, may our love and our sorry be not only in word but in actions and in truth (1 John 3:18). We call for the recommendations of the Bringing Them Home Report (1997) to be implemented in full, particularly recommendations 3 and 4 which reference the need for reparations and compensation for survivors of the Stolen Generations and their families and communities. As per recommendation 3, Reparation should consist of: 1. acknowledgment and apology, 2. guarantees against repetition, 3. measures of restitution, 4. measures of rehabilitation, and 5. monetary compensation. Please join us tomorrow as we enter National Reconciliation Week where we will be led by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders exploring Treaty and Truth Telling for Healing Country. Bring your hands, feet, mind, heart. Bring your listening, your learning, your love. #NationalSorryDay
