12.01.2022 At the start of each year, I choose a focus word for me to refer to when Im making difficult decisions or need direction. This year my word is KAIZEN, which (very) roughly translates to good change. It is a Japanese productivity philosophy that helps you organise everything you do. In short, it means "constant, continuous improvement", and it's a mindset you can apply anywhere, at any job. Were more than halfway through the year, and I can positively say that... we at Urban Rituelle, despite all the curveballs 2020 has thrown at us, have been able to implement the Kaizen philosophy. Earlier this year we were all hands-on deck and pivoted to launch hand sanitisers to market in just a few short days. Weve started a new sustainability journey, and we committed to 100% renewable energy at Head Office, ensuring that our business is now powered by renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. Work is also underway to launch some exciting new collections that we are super-proud of, and we really think youll love! Im fully embracing KAIZEN, and Im feeling good about even more good changes that we as a brand are going to make this year. Do you have a focus word? Were Leanne & Scott & we are the founders of Urban Rituelle. 21 years ago, we launched our business at the inner Sydney Markets in Glebe, selling our little brightly coloured handmade cocoa butter vegetable soaps. Our customers in Glebe couldnt get enough of them, so naturally.we decided to expand our offering and make even more feel-good products for you We started to make our very own Scented... Soy Candles, plus our signature bath & body products, all from our kitchen bench! We couldnt keep up with the demand, we knew we had something special. 03.01.2022 I love journeying to different places and exploring what nature has to offer. Highlights would be sailing the River Nile in Egypt in a tiny felucca, trekking the Himalayas in Nepal, where we slept in caves on the sides of mountains, plus riding camels in the desert of far western Jaisalmer, India, where we played cards under the moonlight . But I can honestly say that the Australia offers some of the most stunning landscape in the world! . I recently went on road trip to K...angaroo Valley, on the NSW South Coast, with my beautiful group of girlfriends. It is always so refreshing to find some quiet space in nature to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine & press reset! . I brought a selection of my favourites from our Alchemy range to share with my girlfriends, in our White Lotus, Geranium & Bergamot fragrance. 03.01.2022 The last 5 months have seen so much change to the way we go about our lives & business. It's starting to really sink in that things are not going to go back to 'normal' as quickly as I first thought. However, I am so INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL that I have had so many wonderful experiences in my life so far & I expect that in the near future I will be able to create many more amazing opportunites & experiences. I love to go on adventures & visit new places. I lo...ve the planning, the discovery & the adventure of the unknown. I love sharing this sense of adventure with my family & talking with friends about all the places we have been or wish to visit in the future. This photo was taken in Sri Lanka in 2017 & brings back so many happy memories. It reminds me of a time where we just jumped on a plane ( after 12 months of saving & planning) & explored a country from top to bottom. We discovered new flavours, explored sacred temples, viewed elephants in the wild, watched huge female turtles laying eggs on a beach at midnight & swam with a baby turtle while surfing in the ocean. This photo always makes me so happy as it reminds me of the beautiful places I have been lucky enough to visit & how if you plan & dream big you can make anything possible! We may not be able to visit these places now, but I am planning for a day in the future where we can again visit new destinations. I have great hope that we will be able to explore the world again. In the meantime I am planning to explore beautiful NSW & I am still hoping for that trip to WA to swim with the whale sharks!! 02.01.2022 Ever wondered why we spell ritual as "rituelle" in our name This is a question we have been asked A LOT lately, so I thought I would share the story behind how our name came to be! When Scott & I came up with the name Urban Rituelle for our business, I was studying Japanese ceramics and the ritual of making at university. The Japanese culture places a very big importance on rituals and ceremonies, and this fascinated me at the time (it still does!). Little th...ings like lighting a candle, enjoying a hot cup of tea, relaxing in a nice warm bubble bath.enjoying slow moments and lifes simple pleasures. I just loved the idea of how rituals shape our everyday life & celebrating the simple things you experience in your everyday. We were going to call our business Ritual, but it seemed too obvious, not tricky or fancy enough. The word Rituelle is actually the French spelling of Ritual. I liked the way the word Rituelle looked. I liked the double ll So Rituelle was the name we came to love. 01.01.2022 A favourite feel-good ritual of mine is enjoying a warm bubble bath on a Sunday night. Its the best way to relax and unwind after a busy weekend, and also a rejuvenating way to clear the mind so I feel refreshed for the week ahead. It sounds simple, but it works a dream! Slip behind closed doors, block out the world and soak in a beautiful bath, surrounded by scented candles. For these cooler winter months, Ive been gravitating towards our Black Amber, Rosewood & Cedar Scent. Moody, mysterious and oh-so enticing, I just love it for creating a tranquil retreat where I can calm the soul. How do you like to relax and unwind on a Sunday night?

01.01.2022 How many of you "save" your candles to burn for a special occasion? I'll be the first to admit I used to do the same but now I'm an everyday candle burner. Most days in the office I have a mini seance happening on my desk, as I test-burn a bunch of gorgeous potential new scents! When I'm at home, and am enjoying my down time, I always have a candle burning - having a scent fill your home is amazing for creating a calm ambiance, and great for uplifting your mood.
