23.01.2022 Have you met Mark?! Mark is our gym manager, Personal Trainer and Exercise Physiologist! A bit about the man himself! Whilst still at school, Mark developed a keen interest in sport and athletic performance and was selected for many district and regional sporting teams. When leaving school, he completed his Certificate IV in Fitness and worked for many years as personal trainer in a variety of gym locations. During these years he developed the knowledge and skills associated... with comprehensive testing, strength and conditioning training as well as speed and agility training. For example, Mark is also an ASCA accredited strength and conditioning coach, an AWF Olympic weightlifting coach and was a Cert 3 & 4 instructor for AIPT. Mark then went on to complete a bachelors Degree in Sport and Exercise Science followed by a post-graduate masters degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology (Rehabilitation). At the completion of his studies, he was appointed the Operations Manager of a nationwide exercise physiology company where he completed extensive managerial tasks while still focusing on his key passion of delivering clinical exercise physiology treatment to a variety of clients. Mark is passionate about supporting all clients to reach their health and fitness goals and is highly skilled at delivering a quality service to clients of all ages and skill levels. 05.01.2022 New year, new goals. Now is the time where everyone is setting goals and making New Years resolutions... Make sure you make them them SMART goals!... Having goals is a good way to focus attention on the things that are important. It allows us to create a vision of how we would like our life to be, what we need to work on or improve and what we want to achieve. When we have a goal, we tend to increase the amount of time and effort we spend on an activity, and develop effective strategies to achieve that goal. . Set SMART goals Specific. Be clear about what you are aiming for your goals should include specifics such as ‘who, where, when, why and what’. . Measurable. Set goals that you can measure. Your goals should include a quantity of ‘how much’ or ‘how many’: for example drinking 2 litres of water per day. . Achievable. Set goals that you are able to do. Setting a harder goal might lead to a better outcome, but only as long as you can achieve it. Goals that are too difficult can be discouraging and could lead to you giving up. That’s why having short and long term goals is essential. . Realistic. Set goals that are practical for you and your circumstances. . Time-related. Set a timeframe and have an endpoint. Deadlines can motivate your efforts and prioritise the task above other distractions. If you don't already set goals, you should do so and it should be important part of your life. Keep the process going by regularly reviewing and updating your goals. And always remember to take time to enjoy the satisfaction of achieving your goals when you do so.
