10.01.2022 US College Journey Information By @mackenzeestokess & @slaydestokes Published by @stcolumbanscollege "Slayde and I have always loved football (soccer). Playing the sport is not only great for the body but it is a great release for the mind especially when it comes to school studies.... Just over a year and a half ago now we started investigating the possibility of playing football internationally. Slayde played in Spain, Singapore and the UK and I played in Japan. Whilst these were great experiences it is an extremely difficult process to play abroad not to mention the red tape involved with playing in Europe. Unless you have a European passport it can cost tens of thousands of dollars for Australians. That is when we stumbled upon Study & Play USA. They are a player recruitment agency for all elite sport students who are willing to live in the US and study at a University as well as play sport. Playing College soccer (or any other sport) in the US is a fantastic way of continuing developing as a player, but with the added bonus of getting a university degree. It has become extremely popular for talented Australian players to go to the US to continue their development. There is no other country in the world that you can combine university studies with sport and getting a scholarship at the same time. And not to mention, you will have an amazing life changing experience as a student-athlete in the United States! Slayde and I have been lucky enough to have been scouted as Fall 2021 recruits to go to the same College for the first two years. We will be studying and playing football under the amazing Coach Chad Miller who coaches both the men and women's soccer teams for North East Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. We will play in a conference which means we will play against other colleges in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), but preseason could see us travel as far as Daytona Beach, Florida on the East Coast. The College is located in a state that lies in both the Great Plains and the Midwestern United States. North East Community College has around 5000 students, which includes students who live both on and off-campus. Being a Junior College there are only 2 levels of students/players - freshman and sophomore. After this, we will be scouted by Coaches from Senior Universities to attend their University and play as Juniors and then Seniors to finish our final 2 years of studies where we will major in our chosen field of Sports Management and Exercise Science."
