24.01.2022 Wishing all our Year 11 and Year 10 students well for their exams this week.
24.01.2022 USC Stage 1 Legal Studies students researching in the Barr Smith Library Reading room. The students are working on an essay investigating whether or not President Kennedy would have escalated the war in Vietnam if he had lived to serve a second term.
23.01.2022 We were delighted to welcome University Senior College Old Scholar Senator Marielle Smith who spoke with our Year 10 students as part of their Citizenship topic. Marielle shared her career journey and answered a range of questions covering homelessness, international trade and many more.
22.01.2022 In Week 10 of Term 3, Year 11 USC Drama students presented Shuddersome by Lindsey Price. This vignette play, based on the stories and poems of Edgar Allen Poe, was developed in many different styles, including realism, dance narrative, melodrama, dramatic recitation and music, drawing on the varied talents of the students. This atmospheric production provided many challenges for the class, but they shone in Production Week, and wowed the audience over the two night run.

21.01.2022 The USC Year 10 Creative Arts production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was a great success. Students led the creative process - performing, making props, sewing costumes, choosing music and creating the set pieces. Performed in the Scott Theatre, with the support of the Creative Arts teaching team, the students presented Shakespeare's most popular comedy to an audience of parents and supporters. Well done to all involved for challenging yourself in new and creative ways!

17.01.2022 USC Year 11 final assembly for 2020 was held last week in the Scott Theatre. Teachers presented, awards were given out and students enjoyed the slide show that reflected on the highlights of Year 11 2020. We wish all Year 11 students well as they begin their transition into Year 12 next week.
16.01.2022 In Stage 1 Legal Studies USC Year 11 students worked in teams and took on various roles such as barristers, solicitors, and witnesses, to analyse a legal problem (negligence) and prepare to present the case at trial. The trial was held in The University of Adelaide Law School Moot Court to give students a realistic experience.
15.01.2022 The University Senior College Create Change Award recognises young people who are driving activities, programs and initiatives that promote or create change. The Create Change Award acknowledges and celebrates the commitment young people make in achieving or participating in positive activities that empower change locally and who have ambition to challenge the status quo, using their passions and skills to push the boundaries. Congratulations to this year’s Create Change Award Finalists Jessica Dobrovic, Zibeon Fielding and Luisa Panuccio. 14.01.2022 USC Year 12 students had their final assembly on Thursday in the Braggs Lecture Theatre. A celebratory get together was held today with a group photo and all Year 12 students received a USC cupcake. We wish all our Year 12 students all the very best as they prepare for their exams in the coming weeks.
12.01.2022 USC Old Scholar, Sol (‘18) judged a Year 10 class of Shark Tank pitches. He provided valuable feedback to each group and shared his exciting career journey. Sol was most impressed with Fin who developed beach leisure items that are recycled and eco-friendly.
12.01.2022 USC Year 11 students use Phone Apps for Stage 1 Geography. As an increasingly significant part of Geography, students need work beyond the classroom. A way to introduce this task is to use Phone Apps for measurement of altitude, gradient, sound intensity, clouds and light. USC is well positioned in terms of contrasting micro-environments for this enjoyable and valuable task.

08.01.2022 Year 12 USC Chemistry students investigated polymers by performing an experiment which uses crosslinking to turn liquid PVA into a semisolid, also known as slime.
06.01.2022 The University Senior College Community congratulates the 2020 Create Change Award winner Jessica Dobrovic. Jessica is committed to improving the homelessness sector in Adelaide and across Australia, through her PhD studies and employment. Jessica is an analyst for Aspire Social Impact Bond at Hutt Street Centre, the first bond in Australia to focus on homelessness. Through research, she helps build understanding of the impact homelessness has on the individual and systems. J...essica also works within the Adelaide Zero Project in collaboration with other services, aiming to achieve functional zero rough sleeping by the end of 2020. Jessica also volunteers for the Hands on Project, providing prosthetic hands for people who have lost hands in developing countries. Well done, Jessica you are a well-deserved winner of our Create Change Award at this year’s SA Young Achiever Awards. See more
06.01.2022 Year 11 USC students in Legal Studies during Term 3 worked as a parliament to run a fictitious country. This involved introducing and debating laws and participating in 'Question Time' where the opposition held the government to account for its actions.
06.01.2022 University Senior College held a Parent Seminar for Persian Parents titled ‘High School & Applying for University’ last week. This free seminar was presented by Zahra Pirvali, Physics Teacher and Science Coordinator at University Senior College. The aim of this seminar was to familiarise and inform families with the high school system in Australia and the essentials to get admission into the university. It included the Australian curriculum, assessment in senior years, university entry requirements, and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank. It provided good opportunity for the parents to ask their questions in a friendly environment.
04.01.2022 As part of the course for Stage 1 Politics, USC students visited the Centre of Democracy in Kintore Avenue with its interactive displays. Now open after COVID-19 lockdowns, this site presents a range of activities and displays with open question activities designed to both stretch and motivate the visitor. This visit is a vital part of their understanding of the significance and role of South Australia in the broader development of democracy in Australia.
03.01.2022 For Mental Health Awareness week USC students organised an event called Meet, Move and Make that provided a range of activities where they could meet up with friends, relax and have some fun. Activities ranged from Martial Arts, Tai Chi, Art and Craft activities, playing Uno and a few more other activities to connect with others. Students are looking forward to the staff and student soccer game on Friday.
03.01.2022 Our USC Community welcomed families for an introductory session on transitioning into USC for Year 10 in 2021 as well as meeting key staff. It was a successful night where many new connections were made. We look forward to seeing these students for O Week at the end of January 2021.
03.01.2022 Congratulations to Savannah Stevenson Year 12 student at University Senior College who received an A+ perfect score for her Research Project. Her research focused on how the integration of simulation-based education in undergraduate healthcare education could support patient safety and quality of care. Savannah showcased her findings by creating a highly valuable Curriculum Integration Framework. She presented her findings to The University of Adelaide, Adelaide Health Simulation faculty as part of their professional development.
