11.01.2022 Communities of Support Mentor program Call for volunteers The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences would like to invite you to become a volunteer mentor for a ...new Faculty-wide first year mentoring program in 2020, Communities of Support. Transitioning to life at University can be challenging. How do change your timetable? How do you keep on top of your workload while working a part-time job? How do you make friends in a Faculty as big as FASS? First year students are often overwhelmed by the difficult task of adjusting to the many new experiences they encounter in their first year of study. The CoS Program offers extended peer support to first year students. Mentors will meet with a small group of first-year students once a week for an hour in the first semester, and every other week in the second semester. You will be guided through these meetings by Faculty and Leadership Fellows working on the program. Talking points, advice, and support will be available throughout. CoS Mentor Registration As a second year or above you have already learned a lot about how life at University works, and what skills and strategies help you to do well in your studies. We would be thrilled if you could offer your knowledge, experience, and your support to those who are just starting out at University. All CoS Mentors will receive a $100 gift voucher at the end of the project. All FASS students who are second-year undergraduates and above are invited to apply to become a volunteer CoS Mentor here: https://sydney.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8CGryCDGz83RFB3.
